How to Sketch for Beginners by Jorja Alderman
So the first thing you need to do is get a piece of paper, pencil, eraser,
sharpener, colored pencils and a great imagination! Get your piece of pa-
per out and your pencil. If you need to sharpen it you can. Now, let’s
sketch something easy. Let’s sketch a tree. First, start with to line on the
left and right side. Draw a line on the bottom. Then draw some holes in
the tree. Take your brown colored pencil and color in the tree but not the
holes. Take your back colored pencil and color in the holes. Ok, on to the
next step! Get your regular pencil and sketch a half circles beside each
other on the top of the tree. Now take your light green and color it all in.
Take your darker green and draw around the green. Once you have fin-
ished that, you can put in some details. Now, write your name at the bot-
tom so who ever looks at it will know who drew it! Now you should have
a lovely picture of a tree!

Prayer Club by Chelsea McCloud
Prayer Club is about God and building a relation-
ship with him. The signups were on September 27th to
join and the members met by the pole outside of the
school in the front. We meet in the auditorium and
there is a guest speaker every Wednesday. At the end of
the year the prayer club takes a field trip for those
members who meet the required criteria. Also, the
Prayer Club participates in many activities to help the
student body at CMS. Hope to see you there!

Chapmanville Local Events for September by Nathan Flinn
The annual Apple Butter Festival was on Sep-
tember 29th 28th and 27th. It happens every Sep-
tember. People in the community look forward to
this festival. There are pageants, vendors, rides,
and arts & crafts. It’s a great way to spend time
with your family, to have support your community.
PBIS by Kaylee Leslie
PBIS consists of being on a bronze, silver, or gold team. Students are on one
team. The teams are chosen according to grades, attendance and behavior. Each team
will be posted in the lunch room on the wall. They will announce each student for
each team. Each team will earn a reward. There is also a new level this year which is
platinum. Of course, the more points that student earns the better the reward is. The
gold and platinum will be rewarded by a field trip.
So, remember students you must do good in your classes, get to school on
time, be present in class, and stay out of trouble. Everyone is looking forward to the
fun days ahead in PBIS.
Monthly Horoscopes by Madison Yeager
Leo: Don’t be fooled by someone who wants to control you. Contribute to your
community. Your outgoing personality is going to get you in trouble.
Libra; Don’t let the nay-sayers let you down. People close to you offer help for the
wrong reasons. Don’t be easily convinced of the unlikely. Recognize your poten-
tial.
Aquarius; Be secretive. Reverse roles on someone who opposes you. Use your sense
of humor to outsmart the competition.
Aries; someone you trust will withhold information that you need to make an in-
formed decision. Forgive but don’t forget. Invite new friends over.
Sagittarius; Daydreaming may get you into trouble. Keep emotions out of business
deals. A friend will test your limits toward the end of the month.
Virgo; Unexpected visitors put a half to plans around mid-month. Don’t get involved
in things for the wrong reasons. Look to the future. Good things are in store for your
family.
Scorpio; Embrace change; it will only lead to better things. Question shady people’s
motivations. All is not as appears.
Capricorn; Find something creative to do. Do whatever it takes to make a situation
better or move on from it. Spiritually you are in limbo.
Pisces; Make a commitment! Stop procrastinating or you will drift away from a
loved one. Surround yourself with your friends. They will offer insight.
Taurus; An important decision will be made without consulting you. There is no
room for error when love is on the line. Eavesdropping will lead to hurt feelings.
Gemini; Feeling anxious? Relax with a good book. Planning early will save you
some money. You will dazzle a crowd with your uniqueness.
Cancer; Don’t miss an opportunity to network. Think things through before making
decisions. Don’t embellish details. Go to a trusted family member.
CMS Cheerleading by Keila Vannatter
The Chapmanville Cheerleaders display school spirit. There are 17 girls on the team
but only 13 girls will be preforming in competition. There is not a set date for com-
petition yet. September,7,2017 the girls wore their new uniforms to cheer on the
football players. They looked awesome. The cheerleaders do so many amazing flips,
jumps, have fliers twirl in the air and the bases catch them! Thanks to their amazing
coach Michelle Browning they look amazing. In my opinion Chapmanville Middle
School has the best cheerleaders around! Cheer Competition is coming soon so
don’t forget to come out and it. Horary for the CMS Cheerleaders!

Game Review
by Markhel Wascavage
A game I recommend for kids is Balloons that Battles. It is the best
game ever .It has no violence and it is for all ages. You pop balloons, as they
pop the game gets harder and harder. You up grade your towers and it helps
you win. The monkeys are your towers. The rating is four stars which is a
good rating for games. A lot of people love this game. In the game you can
send balloons in on people to win. Some balloons can help you and some
people can make you mad. These balloons are examples of the balloons in
the game. The green blimp is the worst balloon you can get sent on you. The
other balloons in the game is like Rambo balloons and blimps. This is a fun
and exciting game to play.

The CMS Soccer team is our schools first add in sport. The CMS Soccer team
was finally approved after multiple meetings. We work hard improving our skills at
practice every day of the week. The only time we don’t have practice is Saturday,
Sundays, Holidays, and extremely rainy days.
The game against Hamlin.
The coach Jay Trump taught the team new techniques at every practice. Soccer is a great sport. A player must work hard to reach his/her goal. When you win you don’t
just feel good about winning you feel good from all that work being paid off. Soccer is not just a sport. Soccer is a sport that brings the team together. It helps a player learn to just try harder next time. In soccer you just got to take the chance before someone else takes it. I hope tons of kids join the team next year. Not only to teach
them soccer but to teach the new blood the importance of being on a team and not giving up.

New Crafts and DIYs by Summer Moore
Here is how to make paper plate candy apples. What you will need is a tiny circle plate, popsicle sticks, brown construction paper, and paint or anything you have at the house to color with. First color your plate red or green. Next cut out the brown construction paper to make it look like caramel on your ap-ples. Then glue that down and take a popsicle stick and glue it on the top.
Here is how to make a apple out of a paper plate craft. What you will need is some red paint, green paint, some black paint, and a tiny or big paper plate. First cut your plate until it is an apple core shape. Then paint the outer part of it red. Then there should be some white and you paint black seeds with a tiny paint brush. Next you cut the plate to make two leaves then paint them green. Then you have a really cool apple decoration
Here is how you make a ghost hanger. What you need it some white paper, string, black construction paper, bowl, cotton balls, and some glue. First cut the white paper in a ghost shape leave a tiny whole for the string. Pour the glue in a bowl and dip cotton balls on the white paper. Then cut your con-struction paper for the ghost mouth and eyes. Then put the string through the whole tie it and then you have a cut ghost you can hang somewhere.
Here is how you make a black cat out of plates. What you do is get a white paper plate and paint it black. Then you cut it in to a crescent shape. So then go get some green googly eyes and a light pink fuzz ball. You glue those where the eyes and nose are supposed to go. Then cut little strips of black pa-per for whiskers. Then use some of the extra piece of plate and make a tail.
