Started using Facebook in 2005 while working with a faculty member on ways to improve the advisor assignment process. (How do we match advisors and students with common interests?)te ests )
Started using Twitter in 2007. (I’m interested in ways we can employ technology in student services and in teaching and learning. If you follow the right people and filter out the mundane, you can learn a lot in 140 character snippets.)

Inspired by Scott Dittman, I created a UConn_Registrar account on Twitter in 2009.
The account is primarily used to communicate deadlines and other information to students.
A couple comments from students:“UConn has a twitter?! This is the greatest thing...EVER!”“The Registrar is on Twitter! That’s so funny! I LOVE it!”

• Decision-making about strategies is difficult. Clarity through experience. Failures contain lessons• No sacred cows: It would be really cool if I could...• Quality connections: find people who add contentQuality connections: find people who add content and personal perspective in responses• No way to introduce yourself to everyone in the room: social media helps develop relationships and conversations• RSS feeds of certain people: blogs, tweets, videos• Search on keywords, use hashtags
