How a latecomer unlisted company, established in the past 30 years, became the most successful Chinese international company that is able to undermine Apple’s position on Western markets? Establishing its presence on the international telecommunication market in the past 20 years, Huawei also conducted structure reorganization, implementing new management logic of Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei: “Let those who smelled gunpowder to make the decisions”. Though APEC will not be exhibiting any machines, they’re going to present some large post-processed parts, proving their professionalism in the area of 5-axis gantry type high speed machining centers, that will be perfect for aerospace and auto industry. In continuation of the topic, started during Tongtai Open House exhibition that took place in March, Tongtai is aiming on the auto industryand aerospace industry, offering various types of solutions, reflect- ing Tongtai’s achievements in the intelligent manu- facturing field, including in house designed Tongtai IntelligentManufacturing System (TIMS). It provides intelligent manufacturing functions and highly efficient operating environment, and also automates the processing of data neces- sary for manufacturing. During CCMT it was possible to feel that Chinese economy is warm- ing up again, especially auto and aerospace industry is in high demand. On site were sold several models, some more orders are still under negotiation. Besides, on the first day of exhibition (April, 11) Tongtai was invited by TAITRA to attend Taiwan machine tool intelligent manufacturing press-conference, local media were invited as well, and Tongtai’s spokesperson Yen Lu gave a speech about Tongtai’s focus on intelligent manufacturing and intelligent machine tools and company’s achievements in this field, raising participant’s interest. 2016 Xiamen Machine Industry Exposition XMIE 2016 took place on April 12-15 at Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center. This year’s exhibition area was 100, 000 m 2 , placing 4300 international standard booths, the number of participants sets a new historical record. At Tongtai’s booth A3029 were exhibit- ed VP-8 Vertical Machining Center, VC-610 Vertical Machining Center for High Speed Precision Contouring, SH-4000P Horizontal Machining Center, TCS-2500L CNC Lathe and other excellent models, exhibiting comprehen- sive machining solutions and industrial strength. Organized by Bureau of Foreign Trade and TAITRA, the 24th Taiwan Excellence Award winners were announced in April, 22. Tongtai was awarded for its “PFB additive manufacturing equipment AM250”, taking home the Silver Award 2016. The best record during these years. “Intelligent addition/ subtraction five-axis machin- ing center iGT-800AM”, “Gantry-type production model machining center FV-236” and “Horizontal machining center SH-4000P” also wins the Taiwan Excellence Award. In total four products received the Taiwan Excellence Award, creating another important milestone in Tongtai’s history.At the award ceremony, Chen Xinbao, manager of the Advanced Technology Department, responsi- ble for AM250, accepted the Silver Award on behalf of Tongtai, and Wang Zhicheng, manager of the Machine R&D Department, accepted Excellence Award. Chen Xinbao emphasized that AM250 is Tongtai’s response to an “Industrial Innovation Upgrade” started by the government and also a successful case of entering into the circle of laser additive equipment manufacturers. Tongtai is the first domestic company which completed the whole cycle of laser metal printing equipment creation, starting from R&D, design and to the final model production. AM250 can be used for medical treatment, auto production, molds, aerospace industry, energetics and even for art objects creation; can perform customized processing, following current unpretentious market demand. Currently the machine is under comprehensive verification, and in cooperation with academic world we’re moving toward the mass production. In the future we’ll continue to create cutting-edge models in hopes of receiving the honor of winning a Gold Award. On April 15, the mayor of Kaohsiung visited Tongtai’s and focus on Tongtai’s progress at aerospace industry and additive manufacturing; Mayor Chen Chu expre- ssed, that Kaohsiung encourages traditional industries to upgrade and do more research and development, to continue looking for new ways of business development. As Tongtai picked up some new directions of development offered by the government, such as aerospace and shipbuilding industries, city municipal gover- nment showing its approval and support to the companies focused on innovations and develop-ment. Only through research and development Taiwanese innovative products will be competitive on the international market, and the government hopes that labor and capital will be working together in order to increase industry competitiveness. During the factory tour Chairman Yen demon-strated to Mayor Tongtai’s ability to provide various solutions in metal working area, Tongtai’s

response to the government trend of upgrading and innovating industry by R&D of various new technologies, including ultrasonic machining, laser machining, 3D metal printing, etc. Tongtai already went beyond traditional metal machining, moving toward, and leading all related factories. The mayor was impressed and confirmed her support. Tongtai keep on thoroughly developing in the auto industry, making 40-50% of profit from this area. Besides, Tongtai also develops in the aerospace industry, adopting a Double A (Automo-tive + Aerospace) program of two-vector develop-ment. According to the information of two biggest aerospace companies Boeing and Airbus, during the next 20 years (2015-2034) the world market’s need for new planes will make up to $5.2 and $4.8 trillion USD accordingly, which makes total $10 trillion USD. This is the size of the market, and Tongtai believes that aerospace industry develop-

ment is the path to undertake. Currently the whole Group efforts are focused on the development of machining centers, aimed for machining plane parts. For example, horizontal/vertical 5-axis machining centers, high-speed gantry-type machining centers, vertical CNC Lathe, high-pre-cision lapping machine, etc. Starting from molds and fixtures, necessary for making engine parts, plane body parts or other parts of aero industry, Tongtai can provide all the needed equipment. Tongtai also participated in the grand opening ceremony of Engine Case Manufacturing Center on April, 14. Tongtai and APEC haven’t only shipped some equipment for the factory, but also at the ceremony were awarded with thankfulness letter and received recognition as an AIDC’s partner.Besides, concerning additive manufacturing technology development, Mayor Chen also was

deeply impressed by fully in house developed AM250 equipment for 3D metal printing. With this equipment Tongtai produced a unique gift for Mayor. She expressed her approval of Tongtai’s timely development of intelligent machines and industrial upgrade and transformation, of focusing on automotive and aerospace industry’s needs and providing complete solutions to the end-us-ers. Mayor Chen expressed her hope that Tongtai will continue to undertake a leading position in the machine tool industry, no matter is it metal machining or non-metal machining, continue to achieve its full technological potential and making a contribution in Taiwanese industry.

The mayor of Kaohsiung visited Tongtai and focus on 3D metal printing and aerospace industry

On April 7th spokesperson of Tongtai Yen Lu attend-ed thematic results publishing even organized by Taiwan Stock Exchange. In order to describe the overall performance of the company, Yen Lu mentioned that in 2015 Tongtai added two new members to the Group – French PCI and Austrian Anger, by this adding momentum to Tongtai’s auto industry direction. Even though the market demand lowered, Tongtai’s results in comparison to 2015 year grew slightly, meanwhile the Chinese auto industry market started to warm back up recently, and we intend to use this opportunity in order to increase the

revenue for the second half of 2016. This year in cooperation with French Auto Industry Group PSA Tongtai is going to open an office in Iran, expand the distribution base in India, and also expand operation-al base in China, Wuhan and Thailand. Besides, in the second half of 2016 Tongtai’s second factory in Luke will be officially opened, and will mainly focus on producing vertical machining centers and large scale machines, increasing overall production capacity.Following to ECFA’s (Economic Cooperation Frame-work Agreement) Sunset Clause, Tongtai is going to move the production of several mass produced

models to China, Suzhou. Tongtai’s R&D work is focused on industrial application, with automotive and aerospace industry as a main goal. Discovering new markets, establishing offices and TTAC (Tongtai Technology Application Center) in emerging countries, etc. these all are ways to expand Tongtai Group in 2016, Tongtai will more forward with cautiously and optimistically.

Workers Honoring Ceremony is successfully completedMay 1stBest employees of 2016 year were honored at a Workers honor-ing ceremony that took place on April, 29th at the second floor of the restaurant. During the Honoring Ceremony were honored workers who worked at Tongtai 5 years (48 persons), 10 years (49 persons), 15 years (33 persons), 20 years (12 persons) and 25 years (7 persons). 10 persons were selected as model employees. Best workers selected by experience length not only received a sincere gratitude, but also were awarded with fine golden medals with Tongtai’s logo, whereas model employ-ees were awarded with a Chrystal trophy cup and an award

money. Chairman Yen made a speech, describing that the last year situation with the orders wasn’t perfect, but thanks to all Tongtai’s staff’s hard work, after Tongtai Open House exhibition situation gradually started to get better. Tongtai hopes to use this chance for a sustainable growth. Even if today outside world views on a machine tool market in 2016 year are not very positive, there is a hope that all Tongtai workers together as one will resolutely accept new challenges and together will achieve even better success.
