Grading Rubric• Criteria 1 – Wooden Back & Charms – 20 points - Did student
create a weathered effect by sanding? Create interest on the charms by adding tin or paint? Creatively attach the charms to wooden back?
• Criteria 2 – Tin & Wire - 20 points – Did student create texture by embossing? Add interest by using paint? Creatively design wires for hanger, wooden charms, and beads?
• Criteria 3 – Tin Design – 20 points - Did student successfully create an art piece directly or partly inspired by their initial design? Is texture design allover, without blank spaces?
• Criteria 4 – Effort- 20 points - Student used time wisely and tried their best. They developed their ideas fully, and also finished their project (didn’t rush)?
• Criteria 5 – Craftsmanship – 20 points - Skillful use of art tools & materials, attention to details, and neat presentation?
Tin Art - INSTRUCTIONS
DESIGN CRITERIA
• Make 4 design drafts from which to choose your final tin design.– Tin -
• texture – Must be ALLOVER, with only small blank areas. If you place a motif in the center, you must create background texture.
• Paint – Must have paint applied in some way.– Wooden charms - Must be either painted and
sanded, or have textured tin attached.– Wire hanger and charm wires – Must be creatively
twisted and have beads.
Tin Art – INSTRUCTIONS
1- Emboss design into tin – Press FIRMLY
* stack of newspaper
* piece of tin
* tools for embossing
2- Paint design on tin
3- Paint charms and/or emboss tin for charms
4- Beads – paint if you want to (not required though).
5- Drill holes in wooden back and charms.
6- Creatively design the wire hanger and charm-holders (must use beads and twists).
