Just as seeds of an apple will grow in a fertile, watered soil, seeds of faith will sprout and grow when nourished.

Intelligence and Faith

• Each one of us is called to know God

• Every person is capable of knowing God

• We may not all come to know God in the same way so we need to learn to know God in our own way

God desires to be known through Jesus.

God became man through the person of Jesus. We could not know God fully without God revealing Himself to us in the person of Jesus.

As we all have unique gifts and unique ways of learning we can all come to know God.

Learning Styles and Coming to Know God

Verbal Intelligence - Read the scripture - Listen to stories

about faith, Jesus, the lives of the saints etc.

- Write and reflect on their relationship with God

Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

-Engage in discussion about the faith-use their logic and reason to contemplate the faith-They can look at their surrounding world for patterns and principles to explain how God works in our lives

Visual-Spatial Intelligence

-Use images and art to contemplate the mystery of God-Expressing their faith through their own works of art

Bodily/Kinaesthetic Intelligence

- engage in nature walks while praying and contemplating God -Using their talents in athletics to express the goodness of God’s creation -Physical aspects of attending Church/mass

Intrapersonal Intelligence (Self-Smart)

- reflecting and praying individually-Studying scripture and theology individually

Interpersonal Intelligence

-Spending time with others discussing the faith (ie. Faith study groups)-Participating in a youth group or social justice group -Attending mass and joining the community in prayer

Musical Intelligence - listen to music that praises God or has a spiritual message-Singing at mass and as a form of prayer-Creating one’s own form of music for a religious setting -Using the gift of music to bring one closer to God
