TIPS TO NARROW
DOWN THE
LIST FOR
COLLEGESLooking forward to getting yourself enrolled in a college?+
Looking forward to getting yourself
enrolled in a college? Though this is
one of the hardest tasks, this is one of
the most significant tasks as well.
When you begin looking for colleges, finding one can appear a little daunting, but by following a few strategies, the task would seem significantly less daunting.
There is Nothing Called the Best CollegeRemember that there is nothing called the best college.
However there can be a ‘best college’ for you. Find your ‘best college’ on the basis of
Accreditation Placement rates
Location
Environment (urban, suburban, rural)
Socio-political orientation Extracurricular programs
Visit the Shortlisted Colleges
You will not be able to get the complete picture till you visit the colleges. If you pay a visit to the shortlisted colleges, you would be able to strike off a few colleges from the list.
College visits form an integral part of college search and believe me, the virtual tours are not always sufficient.
Keep More Options
You can certainly shortlist a few colleges but be open.
Keep at least five or six colleges in the list so that in case you don’t get through one, you always have several other options in hand.
Don’t Get Bankrupted
Higher studies are costly. Make sure you are not choosing a college that gets you bankrupted. Though you need to research tuition, don’t rule out a college based just on this.
Regardless of the college you opt for, make sure to treat it as an opportunity. You are just beginning your higher studies and the way you spend your college life will have a significant role to play in your career later.
