Technical improvements may sometimes be overlooked initially, but the benefits willsoon become apparent during daily use. Agood example is the new hinge mechanism.
Units with Premium fittings have Servosoftdamping so that drawers and pull outs closesoftly, quietly and with self-closing, evenwhen they are absolutely full.
If you’re really in a hurry, unit doors springshut. But with hinged door damping, youcan carry on in peace. It absorbs the swingso that the door closes quietly. You don’tneed a special hinge, the damping mecha-nism just clips on easily.
A number of base units can be optionally fitted with Servodrive. You only need totouch them gently and the drawers and pullouts will open electronically. They can bestopped in any position, and they are closedlike normal units.
With the Tip-on fitting, hinged doors onbase, wall and side units can be openedwith a fingertip. This is not only convenient,but also opens up new design perspectives:if you combine the Servodrive and the Tip-on fitting, you don’t need any handles inyour kitchen.

LIBERO brings light, gloss, colourand transparency to all HOME andLIFESTYLE kitchens. The “zoom”units with roller shutters made offrosted or clear glass are shiningexamples of just how simple it is tocreate space. The “corner” units withsatined glass doors and colouredlighting make a great end to a run ofunits. The “window” side unit hidesmore than is apparent at first glance.It is enclosed in a stylish display cabinet, which when opened revealsa huge amount of storage space.

Ergonomie. Getting the right working height is an important part of the design process.It must be adjusted to your body size. ALNO makes this possible with fourdifferent standard plinth heights and a variety of unit heights. Differentheights within a run of units make ergonomic sense. The ALNO base unitsare based on a 13 cm modular system and are available in five moduleheights for the lowered cooking area and in six module heights for foodpreparation and washing up. The ideal niche height is 48 cm.
Everyone is different. To make yourALNO kitchen a relaxed and comfort-able working environment, it shouldbe designed precisely according toyour personal requirements.
DESIGN
Is it important to you to have short work surfaces and therefore only shortdistances between work zones? If so, the best place for the dishwasher isnext to the unit where you keep your crockery. Electrical appliances builtin at a higher level make things easy on your back, and the storage spaceshould be comfortable to use as well: Drawers and pull outs in base unitsthat can be pulled out fully provide easy access to the furthest corner ofthe units. Wall units with folding, lifting and flap doors mean that there isnothing in the way of your head even when they are open.

• Don’t make life in the kitchen any harder than it already is. Fridge,microwave, oven and dishwasher caneasily be installed at a higher level.
• Have you thought of everything?Extractor hood, freezer, hob…?
Architecture
• If you are designing a kitchen along onewall, you can bring life and simplicity toa run of units with shelves and by com-bining different unit heights and depths.
• Neutral glass units or LIBERO featurefurniture create variety and transparency.
• With mobile and flexible units, for examplebase units on wheels or a cooking table,you can change the layout of the room atany time.
• Stylish shelf systems and individualshelves are ideal for open-plan roomdesigns. They create a seamless transition between the kitchen and the living room.
Base units
• No need for base units with carouseldoors. Drawers and pull outs are theergonomic alternative which will save all that painful bending.
• Full pull outs can be pulled out all theway so that you get a clear view of allthe contents and you can access themeasily.
• Choose corner base units with carouselshelves or swivel-mounted shelves, sothat you don’t have to stretch to reachinto the furthest corner.
Wall units
• Make sure you have plenty of room to move, especially in small kitchens. Roller shutter units and wall units withflap, lifting or folding doors can beopened in a space-saving manner andensure that there is sufficient headroom.
Tall units
• Units with pull outs or internal pull outsare also more ergonomic here. Walk-intall units are an alternative.
Work
• One, two steps to the side, a turn – that should usually be enough. Short distances to move between the workareas (see diagram) save a lot of time.
• Whatever you need is quickly to hand in the niche system or niche units.
Light
• You need to be able to see what you are doing on the work surface, so incorporate niche lighting.
Storage space
• You need enough storage space. Sodon’t waste any space, use corners, thearea under the sink and plinth drawers.
• Extra-deep, extra-high or extra-wideunits create additional space.
• Think about functional interior fittings. If the interior is tidy, you can fit more in.
Modern kitchen design is individual, unconventional and simplewith ALNO. With full creative freedom, in addition to roomdimensions, windows, doors, electricity and water connections,there are also a few other basic things to consider in your plans.The most important thing is how you arrange the central workareas in the kitchen – washing up, cooking and refrigeration.The established principles are: one or two runs of units areextremely beneficial in a small space.
