BENCHMARKING Benchmarking is the process of

comparing one's business processes and performance metrics to industry bests or best practices from other companies. 

In the process of best practice benchmarking, management identifies the best firms in their industry, or in another industry where similar processes exist, and compares the results and processes of those studied to one's own results and processes.

Quality : Nothing is so good that it cannot be made better. That is why they strive for constant improvement in everything they do. They call it: Kaizen. It means continuous improvement, and it is the key principle of their success.

HARVESTED BEST PRACTICES THAT CAN BE ADAPTED OUR COLLEGE Continuous evaluation should be done in

college. Classes should be interactive. Maintain discipline: Strict rules should be

enforced on the students so that discipline is maintained in the college. On breaking the rules students should be punished.

Provide practical knowledge: Instead of providing bookish knowledge, practical knowledge should be provided. Group projects should be included in the curriculum so that students learn to apply the knowledge they have gained in the lectures.

Encourage sports: Big grounds should be made to encourage sports. These grounds should be maintained properly. Matches should be organised in college. Students should be taught the value of team spirit.

INNOVATIVE PRACTICES DESIGNED AND RECOMMENDED FOR YOUR COLLEGE

Selection of subjects : to complete the course a fixed number of subjects need to be completed. The students should be given the freedom to select which subject they should complete in a particular subject. They should also be allowed to select the teacher they want them to teacher.

Reservation : for admission ,seats are reserved for sc, st, obc etc. Instead of keeping seats reserved for backward classes, seats should be reserved for children for poor families.

Hostel Accommodation : Number of rooms in our college hostel is less. So many pleople do not get to stay in the hostel and have to travel. So a few houses in the building near college can be hired and students can live there .

Living condition of hostels: Proper ventilation in rooms is necessary. The mess should be hygienic. The rooms should be cleaned regularly. Proper security should be arranged for girls hostels. Feedback of students should be taken in order to find out that whether there is any problem or no.

Focus on improving speaking skill of students : A lecture should be organised every week in which debates, speeches , group discussions etc. take place.

LESSONS LEARNED BY THE TEAM - We learnt about the concepts of best

practices and benchmarking . These concepts are essential for a company

to flourish. We got to know about the various best

practices of adopted by Toyota, pizza hut, the Indian army and the ants.

We learnt how to be creative and thus thoght of various practices that could be adopted in our college.

We also thought of various innovative practices that could improve our college performance.
