Have you experienced the technical and commercial advantage of choosing TMCP

    steel plates ?

The steel plates produced by TMCP have not only High Strength and toughness but

    also outstanding weldability.

Conventionally it has been impossible to obtain these characteristics simultaneously

and one had to be chosen at the expense of the other.

But thanks to the development of TMCP, this revolutionary steel plate is now available.

Enjoy the benefits this new steel during fabrication and welding.

We're proud that JFE was the world's first company to develop the process for TMCPand has led TMCP technology ever since.

Adding carbon and/or alloying elements is a well-known

procedure to increase strength, but this also increases Ceq and sodeteriorates weldability. The above figures show that TMCP offers

specific strength with low Ceq which improves weldability.

Low Ceq obtained by TMCP offers

high toughness at the heat affected

zone of the weld, even when high

heat input welding is used for high

    efficiency.

    Additional Information

    HAZ toughness is further improved

    by special chemical treatment.

The treated plates are used in

    combination with TMCP under high

    heat input welding for low

    temperature service. Please inform

us of the toughness requirementunder high heat input welding, and

    we'll investigate.

In order to attain high weldability, carbon and impurity elements are

severely restricted. Notably, a crack sensitivity parameter PCMis

introduced, and phosphorus is also reduced to achieve high toughness

    under high heat input welding.

Forming & Heat treatmentForming & Heat treatment

    Hot

    Forming

    Hot forming deteriorates the received

    performance, and then is prohibited.

    When hot forming is necessary,

please consult with JFE prior to order

    Cold forming or warm forming

    is available.

    Temperature under 580C for

    warm forming is recommended.

PWHT, if necessary, is recommended to be

    excuted under 580C.

    When PWHT is necessary,

please consult with JFE steel prior to order.

Available Specification for TMCPAvailable Specification for TMCP

When a customer requests TMCP plates instead of conventional ones, please inform

us as we would like to design the chemical composition in line with the customer's

requirements, such as Ceq or PCM, plate thickness, applicable standard, and PWHT ifnecesarry, and we will also meet special toughness requirements other than the

standard, etc, and will inform the customer of our design results.

Many ASTM specifications are in force worldwide, and TMCP meets several of

them as shown above. If a material specification has already been selected in the

detail design and the specification does not allow TMCP, it is recommendable that

the specification be changed, if possible, to allow the use of TMCP.

In this case, there may be small differences in mechanical properties andchemical composition between the changed standard and the original one.

However, the properties can be adjusted in accordance with the original ones.

The specifications shown above are just typical examples ; TMCP is also applicable

    in other specifications.
