The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is a public, taxpayer- funded, tuition-free, K-8 charter school. TMSA provides its scholars with a unique and rigorous curriculum, and a true community school. As a charter school, we have greater flexibility to respond to our students’ individual needs. Charter schools have certified teachers, challenging academics, and performance-based accountability measures which are often greater than those at traditional schools. TMSA offers Spanish language instruction at every grade level, an extended school day for academic rigor, numerous extracurricular activities, and a homework-based after-school program.

HighlightsExperience the world: Through unique experiences with groups like Trees Atlanta and Georgia Power, and withpeople like acclaimed children’s authors and local politicians, we bring the world to our TMSA scholars.

Parental Involvement: During the 2012-13 school year, TMSA’s parents logged 10,612 volunteer hours through events like PTO meetings, � eld trips, family nights, career days, and classroom activities.

Dedicated Faculty: Constant professional development and certi� cation keep our teachers and staff at the top of their game and give TMSA students access to some of the most creative and devoted educators around Georgia.

A Legacy of Literacy: TMSA hit 100 percent with seventh- and eighth-grade English language arts and eighth-grade reading on the 2013 CRCT tests. TMSA’s new journalism coach is also helping our scholars on the school’s � rst student paper.

We Heart the Arts: TMSA’s Art Night, a yearly showcase of student masterpieces, garners generous local media coverage and generates funding for the art program through sales of framed art.

STEM Excellence: TMSA’s robotics club experienced victory on its fi rst outing at the FIRST Lego League robotics competition, winning Best Presentation.

Community Partnerships: Almost $70,000 was raised over 2012 and 2013 thanks to our community partners. TMSA’s annual Tri-Cities 5K/10K Run Walk (sponsored by the cities of College Park, East Point, and Hapeville, and Marriott Hotels) raised over $12,000 in 2013.
