Sermon Notes
to
Calvary Baptist Church
One of the great joys of worship is to be with people who love
the Lord and have a desire to experience the divine presence of
God. In welcoming you, we pray that you can worship with us
and experience that presence of God in your life, hear the call of
God on your life, and have the freedom to respond to that call in
faith and trust.

On Wednesday nights
Welcome to Calvary Church! Our church family and church staff would be glad to assist with any spiritual need and, especially, pray with you about any concern. During our special prayer time at the end of the service or after service, we are available.
Thanks for your generous help toward the students’ mission trip to Dallas this summer. There are only a few envelopes left on the display boards. There were 125 envelopes with a different
amount ($1 to $125) written on the front of the envelope. That amount is what you would place inside your selected envelope and return the envelope to the office or place in the offering plate. Today is the last day for this fundraising project.
On Sunday night, April 29, at 5:00 p.m., we will have a business meeting where these items will be presented:
1) The deacons will offer a recommendation to accept the deaconship of Charlie Lear and Bennie Whitworth. Both men served as deacons for several years in their former churches. Adding these men to our deacon body will be a blessing to our deacon ministry. I appreciate the willingness and faithfulness of these two men.
2) A recommendation will be made to add Wayne Richard and Bennie Whitworth to the Personnel Committee. These men will replace two people who are no longer serving.
3) A recommendation will be made to renew Jim Whatley and Clay Dunnavant to serve as trustees at Texas Baptist Institute for another term.

PASTOR’S REPORT A Note from Ms. Susan - Children’s Minister
“V-B-S! Gonna Say Y-y-y-y-yes to V-v-v-v-v-B-S!” (Taken from an old VBS song that once it gets in your head will never leave!!!!!) But, it’s that time of year where we begin to say YES to VBS! I realize that summer still seems so far away, and especially July, but the planning for VBS takes most of the year, and that includes preparing the many teachers, helpers, story tellers, decorators, organizers, and on and on. For the next couple of Sundays, you will find a card in your bulletin. Practice
saying, “I Will” by filling it out and dropping it into the offering plate. Frequently asked questions:
Do you need my help this year? Yes! We need your help!
I can’t be there the week of VBS - is there anything I can do? Yes, much of the work for VBS actually takes place before kids ever set foot in the door. From sorting craft supplies, decorating several areas of the church, cleaning up afterwards, to preparing name tags, roles sheets, and class lists. We need volunteers before, during, and after.
I don’t think I can handle a group of kids - how would you use me? Not all roles are teacher roles. We aim to put 3-4 volunteers with each group of kids, so no one is alone. We have rec, registration, crafts, music, sound, and many areas that use a variety of giftings, talents, and abilities. Come talk to us—we would love to help you find your place!
I’m a teenager - can I help? Absolutely! We think it’s awesome that you want to share Jesus with those younger than you!
For answers to more questions, talk with Amanda Dunnavant or Heather Brown, our co-directors, or one of our VBS team leaders! (Of course, you can always talk with me as well.) See you at V-v-v-v-vbs!

confrontational manner. The class will meet at 5:00 p.m. in Room W103. Please
