VOLUNTEERS FOR TODAY

Today, Josh Woolridge will bring our morning message. Josh has been serving on our church staff part-time since April 2014. Most of you know that he had made plans to return to the Air Force and serve as a military chaplain. He worked hard and quickly earned two additional degrees to be qualified to serve as a chaplain. He thought this change would come early in 2017, but it didn’t and he remained on staff. Toward the end of 2017, he was finally informed that his military request had been

refused because of an eye injury he received while serving in the Air Force. Josh has resigned, but he and his family will remain at Calvary Church until the Lord opens the next door for the Woolridge family. Josh and Kathrine have been and continue to be a blessing to all of us here at Calvary Church. Today, we’ll have a special prayer time for the family and receive a love offering at the end of our service.

Let me encourage YOU to consider getting CONNECTED to a Sunday morning Bible study class or a Wednesday Night Bible class. Frank would be pleased to assist you with finding a class.

Tonight, during the evening service, I will continue to share thoughts about 2018 at Calvary Church.

PASTOR’S REPORT

As parents, life can be difficult. Let’s just be honest, none of us live Facebook lives, where everything is perfect! We fight with our spouses, we fight with our children, we fight with ourselves! Things fall apart and break down at the “worst possible” moments, and the artwork just never looks like the Pinterest picture. Our “happy endings” are always followed by some future disaster, leading us to the next adventure. Aren’t we so thankful to have a church family? Can you imagine

navigating life’s ups and downs without one?

One of the best things you, as a parent, can do for your family is to get connected with a small group. These groups become like a second family, helping you when times are disastrous, or life is less than happy, and rejoicing with you at the highest peaks. They become a sounding board when parenting trials arise and a support group when tough decisions must be made. If you have not connected with a small group, see Bro. Frank today!!! Your marriage, your children, your family, and you will be better for it.

BREAKING the CYCLE of HURTFUL Family Experiences

Teacher: Maja Steele, Licensed Professional Counselor

This 13-week class will provide healing for those “hurtful family” experiences many individuals have had in their lives, or possibly help to better understand a spouse or parent who has grown up in a dysfunctional family system. This class will cover stages of development, grieving and healing, emotional healing, forgiveness and bonding with God.

Many individuals grow up and “hide” these deep dark secrets and then go into adult relationships and find themselves “over reacting” or “drugging out” on meds, food, shopping, sex or other addictions. Getting to the root of the pain and finding healing can be extremely beneficial in our relationships to God and others.

The first step is to admit that you may have experienced these “hurts.” The second step is to reach out for help and healing. This class will be confidential for all involved and will be a closed class (meaning no signups after the class has started).

Maja M. Steele is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of Texas. She has provided counseling for many couples and individuals, and her goal is to provide the tools for improvement in relationships with God and others. Her experience includes working with acute psychiatric illness, marriage counseling, grief/depression and various addictions. Please sign up if you feel or think this class would benefit you or help you have greater understanding for someone you love.

THE CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED, SO PLEASE SIGN UP IN THE WELCOME CENTER. For more

information, please contact Frank Lane at (903) 657-8153 (church) or (903) 658-2509 (cell).
