Better Health for Pasifika Communities

The Pasifika Health Service is a service provided free of charge for all Pasifika people.

Its aim is to support you and your family to make good decisions and to remain healthy.

We are committed to providing accessible and quality health care so you and your family stay well.

Who is this free service for?

■ Pasifika people living in Manawatu, Horowhenua, Tararua, and Otaki who have a Long Term Condition such as diabetes, heart disease, or any other health condition

■ All Pasifika mothers and children aged 0-5 years

What can we do?

■ Support you to see your doctor or visit the hospital

■ Help you if you are a pregnant mother to find a midwife or lead maternity carer (LMC)

■ Help you prevent or manage your Long Term Condition such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure or any other disease or health condition

■ Help you or your children access health services

■ Help with language issues by explaining medical terms

■ Offer a service that reflects our clients’ cultural values

■ Support you with social and health concerns

■ Refer you to the appropriate support services

How can the service be accessed?

You can make an appointment yourself or your doctor or nurse can refer you to the service. We have offices in Palmerston North and Levin. We also run clinics each week in the following locations:

■ Tuesday 10am – 4pm Pasifika Centre Bill Brown Park, Highbury

■ Friday 10am – 4pm Horowhenua Community Practice

We can also come to your home, if required.
