TERM 3 WEEK 9 – SEPTEMBER 12, 2019
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL As we near the end of another busy term, there is lots going on, and much
to read in a jam –packed newsletter. It’s great to see the learning that is
taking place and to see children so engaged in what they are doing. Make
sure you check out all the news!!
Today is R U OK? Day. It is our national day of
action dedicated to reminding everyone that eve-
ry day is the day to ask, “Are you ok?” and sup-
port those struggling with life's ups and down.
This is an important day for everyone to get involved.
It is not a day that asks for a monetary donation; it
is day that asks for our TIME and asks us to LIS-
TEN. When was the last time you asked a
friend, family member or colleague this question -
Are you okay?
Long Service Leave Next Term Mr. Beninati, who works in Year 3/4KB with Mr. Keane, will be on Long Service Leave. We wish him the best and look forward to his return in 2020. Mr. Beninati will be replaced by a teacher known to the children.
The Colour Fun Run is on its way to becoming our major fundraiser for the year. 70% of money raised will go back to the school, the funds earmarked for the purchase of robot-ics and associated STEM Resources. Please support this initiative by registering online. Marcelle and Alex will be in the staffroom from 2pm tomorrow to assist with this process if needed. $2,000.00 has already been raised.
A reminder to all families that our Sunsmart Policy will kick in from the beginning of Term 4. All students will be required to wear the school hat outside.
NO HAT,… NO PLAY!
Congratulations to Danielle and John on the arrival of Joseph a treasured brother for Siena (1/2H)
Warmest regards,
Pat
Yesterday afternoon and evening 24 Year Three students took their next step in becoming full mem-
bers of the Catholic Church by undertaking the Sacrament of Penance for the first time. Over the past
term student have been learning all about the Sacrament and the scripture stories associated with for-
giveness and the importance of saying sorry when we do the wrong thing.
Thank you to the Year 3/4 teaching team for preparing the students so well and to their families who
have supported the children along this journey. The school wishes to also thank Fr Raymond for his
care and support of the children in their faith development.

TERM 3 Week 10
Monday 16th September
Senior S
Last Thursday the year six students went to the National Gallery of Victoria (N.G.V), for a confirmation retreat. When we arrived we were met by two lovely tour guides Leah and Tabatha. We split off into two groups with one staying downstairs and the other going to the top floor. The top floor group looked at a painting of St Lawrence, with an explanation of the good deed he did by giving poor people things they couldn’t even dream of having. The downstairs group looked at three carvings of religious figures. One of St Barbara, a girl who was locked in a tower and who was also the inspiration for Rapunzel, St Catherine, a girl who converted a mass amount of pagan’s being Christianity was a crime, and Mary, the mother of Jesus. After the tour we were taken to an activity room to draw a portrait of either a saint or ourselves, using all the inspiration we acquired from the art work we saw. We used words to describe ourselves or the saint’s qualities that we learned about during the tour. Pastels were used to draw the face and stick on shapes and gems were used to help decorate the piece. At the end we walked over to a park where we were surprised with letters from our loved ones telling us about their hopes for our Sacrament of Confirmation.

OCTOBER 7TH – NOVEMBER 1ST
Every October, Walk to School encourages Victorian
primary school kids to walk, ride or scoot to and from
school. It’s a great way to help students learn healthy
habits and achieve the recommended 60 minutes of
physical activity, every day.
Active travel options to and from school are also a great
opportunity to connect and chat with your kids, plus
meet up with other local families along the way. If you
can’t walk all the way, your child can still get involved –
simply drive part of the way and walk, ride or scoot the
rest!
How can your family get involved?
Your child’s teacher will record how many times students walk, ride or scoot to and from school during October, using a classroom calendar. The Walk to School website has some great resources and tips to help kids get involved. You can visit www.walktoschool.vic.gov.au to learn more. Your child can track their walks, rides and scoots during October, and contribute to the state-wide effort! Join in the fun!!!
