Our Place In The “Milky Way” Galaxy Is Unique

Flying at 540,000 mph

~ 200,000,000,000 Suns

100,000 light year across

• We are strategically located away from the center & between the spiral arms away from high concentration of stars

• We have the “best view” to observe the Universe

Black Hole in center with the mass of millions of Suns

Our Closest Galactic Neighbor

Andromeda (2.5 Million Light Years)

Our Galaxy Is Flying at 1,300,000 mph

Page 6: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

Our Galaxy Is One Of ~ 100 Billion Galaxies

As Far As We Can See The Universe Is ~ 14 Billion Light Years

Page 7: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

We Can Only See 5% Of The Universe

• 95% of the Universe is invisible (dark mass and dark energy)

• We can only see the effects of dark mass and dark energy

Visible Universe (5%) (Stars, galaxies, cosmic dust, planets, etc)

Dark Matter (27%)

Dark Energy (68%)

There Are More Stars In The Universe Than Grains Of Sand On All The Sea Shores

You are here!

• This is only a portion of the visible Universe

• The Bible correctly predicted the size of the Universe:

• “As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured” (Jer. 33:22)

Page 10: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

God Is Infinitely Greater Than Our Universe

• What caused the Universe to form? • Scientists don’t understand the makeup of the Universe nor what

caused the Universe to appear• The Bible declares that God created the Universe

• “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth” (Psalm 33:6)

• “the worlds were framed by the word of God” (Hebrews 11:3)

• How was the Universe formed?• Scientists agree that the Universe was formed from “nothing” • The Bible states “the things which are seen were not made of

things which are visible”

• God says - “Is there anything too hard for Me”? (Jeremiah 32:27)

• The energy required to form the Universe (visible mass, dark mass, dark energy) is truly “infinite

Page 11: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

God Is Infinitely Greater Than Our Universe

• “Behold the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee..” (1 Kings 8:27)

• “Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwells on high who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth?” (Psalm 113:4)

Page 12: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

How Big Is “Infinite”?

Infinite

• The Universe & the Atom are indistinguishable from the vantage point of Infinity

Our Finite Universe

Galaxies14+ billion light years Universe

Sub-Atomic Particles

• This is how we should view God.

Page 13: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

“I and the Father Are One” (John 10:30)

Jesus claimed equality with God. This is why the Jews wanted to kill Him

“Therefore the Jews sought to kill Him, because He not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God” (John 5:18)

Why is this important? Every cult denies the deity of Jesus.

By being less than God disqualifies Jesus from being our redeemer.

A prophet, or teacher, or an archangel cannot redeem man. The redeemer has to be both God and man

Job recognized the dilemma of a redeemer - “Nor is there any mediator between us (God and men) who may lay His hands on us both” ( Job 9:33)

Page 14: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

“For unto us a Child is borne, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6)

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel (God with us)” (Isaiah 7:14)

"In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God." (John 1:1)

“Who (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, ..." (Colossians 1: 15)

“But to the Son He (God the Father) says: ‘Your throne, O God (Jesus), is forever and ever…’” (Hebrews 1:8)

“Who (Jesus) being the brightness of His (God’s) glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power…” (Hebrews 1:3)

"For it pleased the Father that in Him (Jesus) all the fullness should dwell" (Colossians 1:19)

“For in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9)

“Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father” (John 14:9)

Page 15: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

The Glory Of Jesus Christ• “O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I

• The present glory of Jesus– “As he (Paul) journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone

around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me (Jesus)?” (Acts 9: 3-4

behold, O LORD, You know it altogether” (Psalm 139:2-4)– “But Jesus knowing their thoughts” (Matthew 9:4,Luke 5:22)

Page 18: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

“I will be like the Most High”• Satan wanted to be like us (Isaiah 14: 12-14):

• I will ascend into heaven• I will exalt my throne above the stars (angels & principalities) of God• I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation• I will ascend above the heights of the clouds• I will be like the Most High

• Jesus gave us what Satan wanted but couldn’t have:• “…made us sit together in the heavenly in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come

He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Eph 2:6,7)

Page 29: To the praise of the glory of his grace 06-01-2014 Tibor Lak at Calvary Corvallis

God’s Grace Is Infinite!• Because of our rebellion and sin nature we deserved death and separation from

God for eternity

• Instead He “blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love, having predestinated us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:3-6)

• God chose the lowest sinful man to make him into His image. This is infinite grace!

• “… rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1Peter 1:13)

• There is no greater grace. It is truly infinite!

to give thanks to Him• Jesus has brought us into a relationship with God that is superior to

the angels• We are sons of God, heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ• There is nothing greater than what God has done through Jesus Christ• “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under

heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12)
