Message from our Alumnus:

St. Xavier's College, Jaipur has played an undeniably greater role in bringing out the best in me. My journey began by becoming the Secretary of Commerce Association. This inspired me exceedingly! By taking up dual responsibilities, it taught me to manage my time effectively and efficiently. The final year of my wondrous ride I became the Vice President of Student Council and President of Commerce Council. Experiences here in College have been collectively very joyous and enlightening for me.

ORIENTATION DAY 2016

The College organized an orientation programme for the freshers welcoming them to the Xaviers family on 18 July 2016.The Chief guest for the event was Mr. Manoj Bhatt, DGP, Rajasthan. The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp. A special welcome was extended to Fr. Dr. Gilburt Camillus, the new Principal and Fr. Abraham Amalraj, the new Dean of St. Xavier's College, Jaipur. The Choir sang beautifully creating a Heavenly presence and the various clubs did their part with enthusiasm and excellence that left the students astounded. Fr. Glenn Menezes, Rector, motivated the students with his eloquent speech. The joyous and enthusiastic function culminated with a vote of thanks by Fr. Joshy Kuruvilla, Vice Principal, St. Xavier's College, Jaipur. It concluded with the National Anthem which tied the crowd in one chord.

ST. IGNATIUS DAY

St Ignatius of Loyola was a Spanish Knight, a theologian and a priest who founded the Society of Jesus on 19th April 1541 and led an exemplary life which inspires us to this day. In remembrance of this great Jesuit our beloved Fathers lit the ceremonial lamp with the motive of spreading God's light everywhere on the occasion of St. Ignatius Day 2016. Our dignitaries paid a floral tribute by garlanding the portrait of St. Ignatius. AICUF Choir and band performance was divine, bringing enlightenment to the whole crowd.Fr. Glenn Menezes, Rector St. Xavier's College, illumined us with his words of wisdom. A documentary was also presented. Fr. Gilburt Camillus, Principal, shared the true meaning of the society of Jesus, imparting more knowledge of St. Ignatius' life. And with this the event concluded.

Diary of a Cynophobic Kid What’s funnier than a man running around on the beach in half wrapped towel? Well it’s a man running around on the beach in half wrapped towel, chased by wild dogs. I never managed to get that incident out of my head. Who could? That day I was scared for life and since then I have never been able to look a dog in the eye. I don’t exaggerate as I say, dogs bring out the best athlete in me, I swear I can beat Jesse Owens if I am being chased by a dog. I wonder why on earth do they only chase cynophobics. I mean did we take some loan from you in the past and didn’t pay back?

If there is a dog in the vicinity I get jittery, my heart starts pounding, I start screaming, my hands automatically claw whatever I’m holding and if I’m standing next to you I will push you in front of me for protection (Pardon me if you too happen to be cynophobic!). If I happen to cross a dog by some miracle, I turn around a million times just to make sure the dog isn’t following me or sniffing my ankle. This is cynophobia at its best.

Indian relatives are annoying when it comes to our results and jobs (yes, the feelings are mutual!) but what is even more annoying about them is their pet dog which takes upon it the responsibilty to bark and play with the already frightened guests .I have been known for my ‘running out of the room when I see their pet dog' and ‘jumping on the sofa when the dog brushes its tail against my toe performances. Well, I can give Gutthi from ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ a run for money when it comes to entertaining others.

So I have a reason to announce…I FRIGGIN HATE DOGS. They scare the shit out of me!I acknowledge them because they are Almighty's creation and I respect them for that. But that’s where I draw the line.

PS: Just a small clarification, I like them on TV like in Planet’s Funniest Animals (The dog chasing its own tail is classic!). But not in real life. If you have a way with dogs and swear by their amity, please let them know that I didn't pelt any stones at them.PPS: In no way this article intends to hurt the fragile feelings of cinofilos.
