Branches of linguistics There are many branches, but the main
ones are:
Phonetics The study of human speech sounds.
Phoneticians study the physical speech sound – how is language produced (place, manner of articulation)
Linguists study the form of sound.

languages. The aim of phonology is to demonstrate the
