This past season, Legacy Choir traveled to Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg and First Baptist Church in Simpsonville. There was also a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, for a visit to The World of Coke museum, lunch at The Varsity, and to Alpharetta First Baptist Church for a concert and dinner. The choir also sang at Greenville Rescue Mission, Senior Action Center, and Buncombe Street United Methodist Church. Cathy Schwartz is responsible for planning and arranging these trips and activities, and she keeps things on schedule. Normally, there are about sixty singers on these “outings.” Sometimes it’s a little like “herding cats” to get everyone in their places when it’s time to sing, but Kevin and Cathy are very capable leaders! XYZ MissionsThank you for helping stock the food shelves of Triune Mercy Center. We know many people in downtown Greenville will be helped by your generosity.

Our mission project for the June meeting will be to collect hygiene items for the Nicaragua trip in July. These items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, washcloths, soap, and antiseptic creams. Donations of money for Manna Packs can also be given. This donation should be given to Nancy Nasim. The needs for Nicaragua are even greater this year because of the earthquake that recently hit this country.

Thanks from your XYZ Mission Committee.

This year Taylors First Baptist Church celebrates 150 years of God’s blessings on the congregation of believers. We are reminded of the ways God has blessed the senior fellowship known as the XYZ Fellowship. XYZ was started under the leadership of Dr. S.H. Jones and Frances Alewine Barnett. Minutes of the first meeting on November 25, 1968, state there were twenty-seven members. Some of the changes over the last forty-five years include meals changed from covered dish to being prepared by the kitchen staff, entertainment changed from slide programs to monthly speakers/musicians, monthly trips were added, and membership was opened to anyone in the community over age fifty-five. Currently, there are

854 XYZ members representing 116 churches.

Praise God for His blessing!
