• August is the hottest month and January the coldest. There's about 20°C difference between summer and winter.

In 1603, the Shogun moved his base of military operations there and iteffectively became the capital of Japan.

In 1869, the Emperor moved to Edo and turned Edo castle into the Imperial Palace.
