Does WV have a fund-raising permit?
As we are not approaching the public to solicit donations, we did not apply for a fund-raising permit.
Why is WV approaching the public to raise funds? I thought you don’t have IPC status?
WV is not approaching the public to raise funds. WV was invited by The Quints to partner them in their corporate social responsibility efforts through the TOL campaign. WV is a registered foreign charity in Singapore.
IMPORTANT!IMPORTANT!
Isn’t asking people to sponsor children fund-raising?
We are enabling people access to information about the work of a humanitarian agency like ours.
Any individual who receives information about our work is free to decide if they wish to become a child sponsor.
There is no solicitation on our part as we only respond to queries and provide information.
IMPORTANT!IMPORTANT!
Example of “what NOT to say / do”: “Do you want to make a donation?”
“Do you want to sponsor a child?”
“Do you want to buy Christmas gifts?”
Generally, don’t approach the public for donations.
But you are free to provide information and answer queries if they approach our booth / Tree to ask how they can contribute.
When in doubt, direct queries to WV staff on duty.
IMPORTANT!IMPORTANT!
IMPORTANT!IMPORTANT!
What you can do: Approach people who stop at the Tree or our booth and share what the Tree of Life campaign is about. Give out brochures / magazines to those who stop by.
Some starters “These are children who are waiting to be sponsored…” “These are unique Christmas gifts that World Vision plans to deliver to needy children and families…”
Engage people who walk up to our booths or the Tree
Tell them about Child Sponsorship (Main priority!)
Tell them about the Christmas gift items
Ensure donors fill up the appropriate forms and pass them back to you
Ensure the booth and Tree are attractive and neat
Don’t worry! There will be WV staff around at all times
