ANCASTER FIELDCOTE WALKWAY PUBLIC ART COMPETITION
Artist’s Proposal
TOM by Sandor Monos
Artist’s Concept Statement
I had an opportunity to speak to the descendents of Tom and Doris Farmer and through their insights and our discussions I have developed the follow-ing proposal.
Concept: “Tom”
Proposing a life size child cast in bronze on a local limestone base with a gravel pat around it.
My concept is intended to commemorate the Farmer family Doris and Thomas as past owners of this property. I have obtained an old image of Tom as a child and intend to replicate his likeness, reflecting the histori-cal garb of his generation and the farming community of his roots. It will be inviting and interactive, maintenance and vandalism free. The patina of the bronze will compliment its natural environment. The stone base will be the representation of the natural Ancaster terrain.
After Doris’ death in 1983 her will stated:
The park should be known as Fieldcote Memorial Park in memory of Thomas William.
