RCIA - A Call to All
This year we again start the RCIA journey with an information night to be held in the parish centre on Monday 1 August at 7pm.
The RCIA is not just a journey of faith for the faith inquirer, sponsor and catechist; the whole community embarks on the same journey with them. This was one of the landmark developments of Vatican I. Prior to Vatican II, adults became initiated into the Catholic Faith by means of a series of private meetings with the Parish Priest on the subject of "Catholic Instruction", culminating in an often, "private" celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. At Vatican II however, the Church acknowledged that "adults do not grow in faith primarily by learning concepts, but by sharing the life of the Christian community..." (para. 28, Catechesis of Adults in the Christian Community, 1990).
We urge you to pray for our candidates. There will be an opportunity to do this as a community throughout the RCIA journey as each of its four stages is celebrated by a liturgical rite at Mass. Please invite family members and friends who may be interested in becoming a catholic to this meeting.
We also invite you to attend this RCIA meeting on 1 August for two reasons: (1) to listen to and share with the candidates seeking faith formation through the RCIA; and (2) because it will contribute to your own adult catechesis and ongoing conversion.
If you are interested in coming to the RCIA meetings, or if you know of someone who is interested in joining the RCIA program, please speak to Sr Mary Randle or Kevin Twomey by contacting the Parish Office (Ph – 3399 2386) and leaving your details.
Regards,
Kevin Twomey

“If the message we are supposed to be getting is
really, “Forgive us…as we forgive” it’s time to let
everything to the Mercy of God, to put down
unholy righteousness , to purge ourselves of
grudges, and to move where we’re welcome, uncaring and
where we’re not.” – Joan Chittister, OSB, God’s Tender Mercy
VOCATION VIEW - God knows what we want before we ask. God knows who we are before we discern. God invites us to pray; to ask and to discern. Pray for vocations. To talk about your vocation, call Vocation Office 3324 3351
HUMOUR – Upon entering a little country store, the stranger noticed a sign
warning, ‘Danger! Beware of dog!’ posted on the glass door. Inside, he
noticed a harmless old dog asleep on the floor beside the cash register. ‘Is
that the dog folks are supposed to beware of?’ he asked the owner. ‘Yep,
that’s him,’ came the reply. The stranger couldn’t help but be amused.
‘That certainly doesn’t look like a dangerous dog to me. Why in the world
would you post that sign?’ ‘Because,’ the owner explained, ‘before I posted
that sign, people kept tripping over him.’
