There is nowhere better to be in the summer than in the Algarve and after a day at the beach or around the pool then why not head off to enjoy some live entertainment.
Carvoeiro is an ideal place to spend days and nights packed with events with live music every night of the week down in the square, up by Mungos and three times a week outside Hemingways while there is also live music in Vimar, Taste and A Vela.
Entertain the children in the square where there are people about to do hair braids or draw pictures or alternatively send them off to the beach to jump away on the bouncy
castle in the evening.Outside Carvoeiro we
also have lots of things going on including the snail festival in Porches later in the month and the sweet festival in Lagoa or for anyone who was born to ride there is the internationally renowned Faro bike festival - worth a trip just to watch the parade on the final day through the streets of Faro.
Music lovers looking for international acts only need to jump in the car this month and head north to join the fun at some of Portugal’s biggest festivals with Optimus Alive offering headliners including Green
Day, Depeche Mode and Kings of Leon while SuperBock SuperRock boasts The Arctic Monkeys and Queens Of The Stone Age on the bill.
Take a look at our events pages on page 6 and 7 of this edition to see what is in store for July and don’t forget to let us know about any events that you think people would like to go to and we can post these on our Facebook page and website.
Make the most of the summer in Carvoeiro and never miss another event with Tomorrow Carvoeiro!

You know the summer has started when the international sand sculpture exhibition, Fiesa, opens again to the public.
This year the theme of the exhibition is “music” so look out for representations of al the classics from Elvis to Pavarotti!
The park, located near to Pêra, is open from 10am until 10pm and then until midnight after June 28.
Entry costs €9 for adults and €4.50 for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Under 5’s enter for free.
n gET FIT FOr FrEE!
Work up a sweat this summer on the beach with free aerobics/zumba classes on the beach in Carvoeiro.
Every Tuesday and Thursday an instructer will be on the beach to lead aerobics and zumba classes from 6.30pm.
You don’t need any special equipment or clothes and many people just hop off their towel to take part in the sessions.
Sessions will begin on July 16 and will then continue on until the end of August for anyone who wants to take part – no registration or payment needed!
n SLOW DOWN WITH
SpEED BUmpS
Some much needed speed bumps have been introduced in Carvoeiro and already there has been a noticeable difference in the speed of cars using the roads where they are situated.
Speed bumps can now be found on the way into the village on Rua dos Pescadores (just before the Fabrica Velha café), on Rua do Barranco (next to the kebab shop) and another speed bump is on the road from Carvoeiro to the Monte Santo resort.
Make sure you remember to slow down for these as you travel around Carvoeiro – if you forget to slow down you can be sure you will have a sharp reminder for the next time!
Welcome!Welcome to the July edition of Tomorrow Carvoeiro! The summer season is now in full swing and the Algarve is not only packed with people enjoying some summer sunshine but is also filled with loads of entertainment and exciting events.
This month we have given you two pages filled with events taking place in Carvoeiro with a few of the major Algarve and Portugal festivals, fairs and sporting highlights also included to give you inspiration over the month. Some of the events have been highlighted for you on the front page while the rest can be found on pages 6 and 7.

Residents and visitors to the Lagoa municipality are reminded by the local Câmara that it is illegal to dump rubbish at unauthorised sites.
A statement from the Câmara highlighted that in 10 days during June more than 120 tonnes of rubbish was collected from roadsides and from beside bins.
A spokesman said: “our primary activities in the area depend on tourism and we need to be able to attract tourists to the area. This situation of illegal dumping contributes to a negative image of the area as well as being a public health risk.
“The cost of removing the waste is very high for the Câmara and these costs are passed on to all citizens in the municipality.”
The responsibility of removing waste lies with the individual and up to 100kg of green household waste can be dumped for free at the Waste Disposal Centre in Lagoa. There is also a free waste collection service for larger items available – call 808 202 283 to arrange collection.

n ALBANDEIrA
Split into two parts this beach is out in the wilds a little in the direction of Caramujeira. A beautiful small beach with the Suites Alba resort nearest to it and a beach cafe open during the summer months.
Head through the hole in the cliffs to discover another beach at low tide.
Be careful driving down to the beach as the road is narrow, although there is a car park for beach users at the end.
n CArVOEIrO
For years this beach has been the reason visitors have been coming to Carvoeiro. Large enough for many people to come to but still small enough not to worry where family members might be. This beach is ideal for anyone with accessibility issues as it has easy ramp access.
You will have to walk a bit to get to the beach in the summer but there is plenty parking in the town itself if you look about.
Handy for anyone staying in Carvoeiro without a car and right next to all the bars, shops, restaurants and amenities that Carvoeiro has to offer.
n BENAgIL
From a first look Benagil beach looks very small but head around the corner and there is a large beach right in the centre of this little village.
There are plenty of great restaurants on either side of the cliffs here so park up for the day and then head off for fresh fish in the evening.
n mArINHA
Voted as one of the best beaches in the world Marinha is breath-taking to look at. There is plenty of parking at the top entrance to the beach but be ready for a climb as there are hundreds of steps down to the beach itself which can feel fine going down but is not so
much fun coming back up again.Cliff falls are not unusual along this area of coastline so take real care not to
sunbathe in the prohibited areas.
Carvoeiro and the surrounding area has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve, from small craggy coves to long sweeping sands, there is a beach to suit the need of everyone, you just need to know where to head to!
Here we have put together a quick beach guide for the Carvoeiro area to let everyone see not only how gorgeous they all are but also some useful information about each of them.
BEACH GUIDE BEACH GUIDE BEACH GUIDE BEACH GUIDE
n CArVALHO
A smugglers cove with the trickiest entry point of all beaches in the area. You can park up on the Benagil side of the beach or on the Clube Atlantico side then walk down to the bottom and try to find the hidden stairway cut through the cliff that takes you to the beach.
You feel away from the rest of the world here but the difficult access to the beach does not make this suitable for everyone.

LOCAL NEWS LOCAL NEWS LOCAL NEWS LOCAL NEWSn CANEIrOS
The closest beach for Sesmarias is another stunning location and a great place for people watching both day and night.
In the summer there are loungers
and water sports while at night there are regular beach parties organised by the Rei das Praias restaurant on the beach.
Expect to have to walk if taking a car as parking in the summer is very limited.
n mOLHO
A beach of two halves thanks to the spit into the sea that breaks up the beach.
On one side you have calm waters lapping at the beach and on the other, larger waves perfect for water sports.
This is probably the best place for any body borders or surfers to head in the area - just be ready to carry your stuff down all those steep steps!
n pArAíSO
More of a view point than a beach most of the time Paraiso only has a little sun bathing area at low tide.
There are lots of steps down to this beach closest to Carvoeiro centre
but there is not a lot of space during the peak season and you may be forced on to the rocks.
BEACH GUIDE BEACH GUIDE BEACH GUIDE BEACH GUIDE
n CENTEANES
Just a short drive away from Carvoeiro main town Centeanes is popular with locals getting away from the centre.
The beach bar here is a great place for a lunch by the sea while there are also plenty of water
sports activities available. Not a lot of parking available but there is a ramp down
to the main beach that is not too difficult for anyone in a wheelchair or with a pushchair.
n pINTADINHO
The popular each bar here draws a lot of people to the beach while the easy access onto the sand is ideal for families with young children and anyone with accessibility problems.
This is only a small beach though and gets very busy in the summer with parking being tricky if you arrive later in the day.
Don't forget to explore the little caves to the left or the huge cave on the right!
n prAIA grANDE
As the name suggests, this beach is big! The steps here are wide and easy to use and take you down to the huge beach where there are several beach bars and restaurants.
There is a dedicated sports area on this beach and even a children's playpark on the sand.
The waters here are calm and there are great views over to the marina in Portimão

Learn more about the faces behind the businesses with Tomorrow Carvoeiro. This month we took five minutes to chat with Antónia from A Vela restaurant, to find out her inspirations behind this popular restaurant on Rua do Barranco.
tomorrow carvoeiro: Where are you originally from?Antónia: I am originally from Beja in the Alentejo region of Portugal. It's a very typical region in the South of Portugal. It has very good food, wine (the best in Portugal) and the people are very welcoming. From here you can also enjoy the beaches of the West Coast. tc: When did you open A Vela?A: Restaurante A Vela has been open since May,2004.
tc: What was your experience in restaurants before opening the restaurant?A: I used to work in Hotel Restaurants (4 and 5 stars) in Switzerland.tc: What are the inspirations behind your menu?A: My inspirations come from a combination of Portuguese traditional dishes and international food, bringing together all the different experiences I have from working over the years in the industry. tc: What is the best part of your work?A: The best part of this work has to be
the communication with the guests, I enjoy seeing people happy and to know they will come back.tc: Why did you choose to open a restaurant in Carvoeiro?A: Because Carvoeiro is a very typical fishing village in the Algarve. The town is very beautiful, small, welcoming and I can speak many languages with the people who come here because of the variety of tourists who come to Carvoeiro.tc: Can you describe A Vela in 3 words?A: Welcoming. Good Food. Nice Atmosphere.tc: What is your favourite beach in the area?A: My favourite beach in the area is Praia do Paraiso.tc: What is your favourite time of year in Carvoeiro?A: I really enjoy the month of September.tc: And finally...if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: Switzerland. Because it's the only country that will always give me the opportunity to do what I want. It's like home for me. But when it comes to holidays then it would have to be Carvoeiro!
