CuttingFrom Tonga-B2345 Eggplant:• Cut nine 25⁄8" x width of fabric (WOF) strips. Sub-cut128 25⁄8" squares.• Cut eight 11⁄2" x WOF strips. Sew the strips togetherend to end with diagonal seams and cut two 11⁄2" x 741⁄2"strips and two 11⁄2" x 721⁄2" strips.• Cut nine 21⁄4" x WOF strips for binding.From Tonga-B7900 Black:• Cut nine 25⁄8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut 128 25⁄8" squares.• Cut four 37⁄8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty 37⁄8"squares. Cut the squares in half once diagonally tomake eighty half-square triangles (HST).From Tonga-B1301 Velvet:• Cut eight 31⁄2" x WOF strips. Sew the strips togetherend to end with diagonal seams and cut two 31⁄2" x 801⁄2"strips and two 31⁄2" x 741⁄2" strips.From Tonga-B2963 Wasabi:• Cut four 71⁄4" x WOF strips. Sub-cut sixteen 71⁄4"squares. Cut the squares twice diagonally to makesixty-four quarter-square triangles (QST).From Tonga-B2960 Juniper:• Cut four 61⁄2" x WOF strips. Sub-cut twenty 61⁄2"squares.

From both Tonga-B1472 Kiwi and Tonga-B2040 Violet:• Cut four 37⁄8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty 37⁄8" squares.From both Tonga-B2803 Purple and Tonga-B2964 Plum:• Cut two 67⁄8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut ten 67⁄8" squares.Cut the squares in half once diagonally to maketwenty HST.From Tonga-B4230 Cosmic:Cut four 31⁄2" x WOF strips. Sub-cut forty 31⁄2" squares.From Tonga-B2961 Bronze:Cut two 43⁄4" x WOF strips. Sub-cut sixteen 43⁄4"squares.From each of Tonga-B2962 Fizz, Tonga-B2053 Citrine,Tonga-B2507 Granite and Tonga-B2508 Lush:• Cut four 25⁄8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut thirty-two 25⁄8" x43⁄4" rectangles.From both Tonga-B2041 Vine and Tonga-B2053 Holly:• Cut two 37⁄8" x WOF strips. Sub-cut sixteen 37⁄8"squares. Cut the squares in half once diagonally tomake thirty-two HST.

Block ConstructionBlock A1. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on thewrong side of each 37⁄8" B1472 Kiwi square. Layer amarked square right sides together with a 37⁄8" B2040Violet square. Sew 1/4" oneach side of the marked line.Cut the squares apart on themarked line to make twoHST units. (figure 1) Makea total of eighty units.2. Lay out four Kiwi/VioletHST units, four B7900Black HST, two 31⁄2"B4230 Cosmic squares, andone 61⁄2" B2960 Junipersquare as shown in figure 2.Join the pieces into rows andthen join the rows tomake a Block A center.Make a total of twenty BlockA centers.3. Sew a B2803 Purple HST toone corner of a block center.Sew a B2964 Plum HST tothe opposite corner to com-plete a block. (figure 3) Makea total of twenty of Block A.

Block B4. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on thewrong side of sixty-four 25⁄8" B2345 Eggplant squares.Layer a marked square on one end of a 25⁄8" x 43⁄4" B2962Fizz rectangle, right sides together with the marked line inthe direction shown. Sew on the marked line and trim theexcess corner fabric leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Pressthe seam allowances toward the resulting triangle. In thesame way, sew a marked square on the opposite end of therectangle to make a flying-geese unit. (figure 4) Make atotal of thirty-two flying-geese units.

5. Repeat step 4 using the remaining25⁄8" B2345 Eggplant squares and the25⁄8" x 43⁄4" B2508 Lush rectangles tomake thirty-two flying-geese units.(figure 5)6. Repeat step 4 using sixty-four 25⁄8"B7900 Black squares and the 25⁄8" x43⁄4" B2053 Citrine rectangles to makethirty-two flying-geese units. (figure 6)7. Repeat step 4 using the 25⁄8" B7900Black squares and the 25⁄8" x 43⁄4"B2507 Granite rectangles to makethirty-two flying-geese units. (figure 7)8. To make a corner unit, join one unitfrom step 5 and one unit from step 6 asshown in figure 8. Sew B2963 WasabiQST to opposite sides of the unit. Adda B2041 Vine HST to complete a cornerunit. (figure 9) Make a total of thirty-two corner units.9. To make the center unit, join one unit from step 4 andone unit from step 7 as shownin figure 10. Make two unitsand sew them to opposite sidesof a 43⁄4" B2961 Bronze square.(figure 11) Add a B2053 HollyHST to each end to completethe unit. (figure 12) Make a totalof sixteen center units.10. Join two corner units from step 8 and onecenter unit from step 9 as shown in figure 13 tocomplete a block. Make a total of sixteen ofBlock B.

Quilt Top Assembly11. Lay out the A and B Blocks in six rows of six blockseach, alternating and rotating the blocks as shown in theQuilt Assembly Diagram. Join the blocks into rows; thenjoin the rows.12. Sew the 11⁄2" x 721⁄2" B2345 Eggplant strips to oppositesides of the quilt top. Sew the 11⁄2" x 741⁄2" B2345 Eggplantstrips to the top and bottom of the quilt top.13. Sew the 31⁄2" x 741⁄2" B1301 Velvet strips to oppositesides of the quilt top. Sew the 31⁄2" x 801⁄2" B1301 Velvetstrips to the top and bottom of the quilt top.Finishing14. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing and quilt asdesired.15. Stitch the binding strips together end to end usingdiagonal seams. Fold and press the resulting long strip inhalf lengthwise with wrong sides together. Stitch to thequilt front, matching raw edges and mitering the corners.16. Fold the binding to the quilt underside and hand-stitch the folded edge to the quilt back.
