This is a recording system for tracking student performance in guided reading and recording anecdotal comments. What is it used for? During Guided Reading observations can be recorded on individual students to assess progress and use of strategies. It is easy to use and keeps an ongoing record of student performance. The tool allows the teacher to provided targeted instruction focused on individual student performance. How do you use it? Using an 81/2 X 11 sheet of bristleboard, attach three index cards with tape on the left side. On the card record the students names in each group and their sound skills assessment results and PM if applicable. It is best to record in pencil so that groups can easily be adjusted. Underneath place stick sticky notes where observations and dates can be recorded. There is room for multiple stickies. How do you adapt it to other subjects and topics? This tool could be used for any collation of anecdotal observations .
