An improvement in private home transactions in 2015 compared to a year ago arguably suggests that buyers and sellers have come to terms with the government's cooling measures. While private home prices remained on the slide with a further 3.7 per cent decline in 2015 after a 4 per cent drop in the preceding year, the number of transactions picked up in both primary and secondary markets. Some 7,529 private homes and 2,562 executive condo (EC) units were sold by developers last year, rising 2.9 per cent and 62.4 per cent respectively from 2014; the resale market may yet register a bigger recovery in transaction volumes when the fourth-quarter data from the Urban Redevelopment Authority is released this Friday.
