I wanted lots of flowers so we bought wheelbarrow planters and Caroline planted gorgeous garden flowers in them which we displayed outside along with cream jugs of flowers on the picnic benches. In the Church we put small wellies filled with flowers on the pew ends – these looked really nice!My mum, along with some help from family created a beautiful flower arch which was displayed over the gateway as you entered the field which the marquee was held in.
Talking PointI think our guests loved our band, ‘Chasers’ from Cardiff. The dance floor was packed and when they finished our guests wanted them to carry on! They were so much fun and very entertaining. The Polaroid camera and props was always being used and I love looking back through the pictures – they are very funny.There were lots of little details throughout the day, we had a photo guest book designed by our photographer and we also had a fingerprint tree which our guests added their fingerprint and initials. It’s a great reminder of all our friends
and family who shared our special day. The food was gorgeous!!! Everybody commented on how tasty it was and what great service they provided. We chose the Castlefields and Carol and Ian worked so hard preparing a lovely menu and food for our wedding. The ProposalGarry had booked us a night away to Nant Ddu as a birthday present in June 2012. As I sat down for dinner Garry was holding a gorgeous ring, I had to double take as I couldn’t believe what was in front of me. Garry asked me to marry him and of course I said yes!! We couldn’t wait to get home to tell our family and friends our exciting news!
OutfitsMy wedding dress was a Mori Lee dress from Endless Dreams in Ebbw Vale. I was very lucky that Amore Bridal in Hereford agreed to do my alterations and it fitted like a glove! It was the first dress that I tried on and I knew it was the one when I saw my mum in floods of tears. We hired the mens suits from Bill Childs in Hereford. We chose black traditional suits with a dove grey waistcoat and purple tie- they looked very smart. We bought long purple maxi dresses with lace detail at the top from TKMax for the bridesmaids!! Our three flower girls had lovely ivory lace dresses from John Lewis, they looked very sweet!

VenueWe both wanted a Marquee wedding reception and were lucky enough to hold the reception at my Mum and Stepdad’s farm in Tregoyd surrounded by beautiful views. We hired our Marquee from Acacia Marquee’s. Martin was brilliant, always at the end of the phone and ensured we had the most beautiful marquee. www.acacia-marquees.co.uk
ThemeWe wanted a rustic, country wedding and we thought of lots of lovely ideas to create this. We decorated the marquee with homemade purple and brown hessian bunting with hanging button hearts. We had hessian table runners with blocks of wood and jars filled with gorgeous garden flowers by Caroline Meredith in Painscastle. Two beautiful wooden stepladders with hearts carved into them, displaying our table plan on and props for the polaroid camera.
The ProposalWe were on holiday in Ibiza at the time, and Ian popped the question whilst we watched the sunset go down on our last night in San Antonio Bay, it was perfect and a complete surprise.
OutfitsMy dress, designed by Sottero & Midgley, was from All About Eve Bridal Wear in Newport and my Mum also found her outfit here too. My bridesmaids dresses were bought from a high street store, which were Grecian in style to compliment the style of my dress. VenueThe reception was held in a marquee supplied by Monnow Marquees and situated in our friends field overlooking the Blorenge and The Sugar loaf mountains. We had a LED twinkly ceiling over our bright pink dance floor which everyone loved. As I am a wedding florist myself, flowers were a huge part of my décor and the marquee was adorned with fresh flowers everywhere.

ThemeThe theme was loosely based on Ibiza, our favourite place and where we got engaged, so the colours hot pinks and oranges were used throughout all the flowers and decorations. Our main aim was to keep everything fun, modern and to create a party atmosphere, which we achieved. The colour mix looked amazing and our bright pink floor set everything off perfectly.For our favours, I even managed to find pink and orange sun glasses, which sat upon the weddingstationery which I’d made myself. Our cake, which was a wedding gift, stood upon a bed of flowers which looked awesome, and all captured perfectly by our photographer Maria Farrelly.www.mariafarrelly.com
Special MomentOur first dance. Ian made a huge effort to learn
our first dance which meant so much to me. He normally hates anything like that, and by everyone’s reaction, they all loved it too.
FlowersI loved my flowers! I created all my floral displays myself, as my full time job is as a wedding florist at Hilary’s Floral Design of Abergavenny. There were high expectations to achieve, as I’ve recently won Gold at Chelsea flower show this year, so no pressure! But everything came together beautifully, and there were flowers absolutely everywhere, there was no area of the marquee or the church that didn’t have flowers present.www.hilarysflowers.co.uk

Talking PointOur choice of favours and the band, our colour co-ordinated sun glasses went down a treat and featured in many photos throughout the day. One of my friends literally didn’t take hers off until she got home, and many of the boys wore them all through the night whilst dancing to The Kiltics, our live band who were amazing. The ProposalIt was October 2010 and Simons 30th birthday. The proposal was no big romantic gesture; it was plain and simple just like us. We were cuddled up in bed watching a film when Simon grabbed my hand said how much he loved me and then placed this beautiful ring on my finger and asked me to marry him. Simon never seemed keen on marriage so it came as a huge surprise. I lived with my parents at the time and can remember running in to their room screaming and crying with excitement. It really was a big a surprise!The MarriageBoth the ceremony and reception were held at The Manor Hotel in Crickhowell. The Ceremony music was provided by Rhian Morgan Harpist. Our evening disco was provided by Mark Weller.OutfitsMy dress was not an elaborate or expensive dress, it came from China and I was over the moon with it. The men’s suits, bridesmaid dress, pageboys suits and mother of the bride outfit were all from
Perfect day bridal wear in Brynmawr.VenueI’ve known ever since I was a little girl that I wanted to get married in The Manor Hotel. I used to drive past it with my parents when I was younger and would dream about getting married in such beautiful surroundings. I took Simon there and he fell in love with the place and its scenery too. We knew then that we wanted to get married there.
ThemeOnce again I had my theme and colour scheme planned since I was a little girl; teal and butterflies. All of our stationary was laced with a beautiful teal and silver ribbon and a stunning butterfly brooch embellishment. I had little teal butterflies placed on all the wine glasses; even our champagne flutes were specially made by Glass Glitterarty to incorporate our teal theme. Our table names were all named after our favourite 80`s rock bands.
Talking PointThe whole day seemed to be a talking point, but there were a few extra special things that were commented on by many. I had a personalised aisle runner made especially for my dad to read when he walked me down the aisle. That brought a tear to his eye and everyone else’s. We provided a caricature which was a massive hit - he did some hilarious sketches. These were for the guests to keep as a memento of the day.The chocolate fountain and sweet table was probably everyone’s favourite as there were no sweets left by the end of the night!! The children loved the favour bags I had made up for them with things to keep them entertained and personalised stuff for them to treasure. Something for us to cherish was the finger print tree which by the end of the night was full of our guest’s finger prints. Best BuyWithout a doubt my wedding dress was my best buy. Also our photographer and videographer were fantastic, they made the whole day such a comfortable experience.
