    Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) was set up under the QuantitySurveyors Act 1967, generally to regulate professional conduct of the QSprofession.Function of Board:a) To register Quantity Surveyor

    b) To register firms & bodies corporate practicing as consulting QuantitySurveyors

    c) To order cancellation, removal or reinstatement of registered QS or firms fromthe registration

    d) To fix the scales of fees for professional quantity services provided

    e) To hear and determine disputes relating to professional conduct or ethics of QS

    f) To determine and regulate the professional conduct & ethics of the QSprofession

    g) To attend no matters necessary for the carrying out the provisions of the Act

    As required by Statute all practice QS must beregistered with the Board of Quantity Surveyor,Malaysia. Sole Proprietorship, partnership or bodycorporate practicing as QS must obtain approvalfrom the Board, which will then issue a permit topractice.

    To be entitled to be registered as a registered QSa person must: Possess a qualification recognised by the Board Be a provisionally registered QSHave obtained such practical experienceprescribed by the BoardHave passed a test of professional competenceconducted or sanctioned by the Board

    ISM is the professional body representing the suryevingprofession in Malaysia and consists of 4 main sectors:

    Valuation

    Land surveying

    Building surveying

    Quantity surveying

    It plays a role in promoting & regulating the professionalconduct of the members.

    1. To keep & maintain a register of QS

    Function

    1. Conduct professional exam (foundation, first part,intermediate, final exam & direct exam)

    2. Accredit QS degree from approved university

    3. Be a housekeeper for professional conduct &discipline (admonish a member, reprimand,suspension or expulsion)

    4. QS divisional committee deals with mattersconnected to syllabus for exams, accreditation,application for membership, professional conduct &fee etc.
