In conclusion, locals are largely effective in protection of the tourist areas. However they will need to improve on their labour skills in conservation and preservation of the environment so that they are capable to manage the tourism impacts successfully.

Locals – A local community is a group of people living in the same territory.

Community based tourism makes locals a priority in employment and business opportunities. They also benefit economically from tourism.

In Java (Indonesia), the Candirejo village had new jobs and businesses due to tourism. There were 63 new jobs, 5 new business as well as 12.5 % increase in income from 2001 to 2003.

The locals may not have enough skilled labour such as managers and consultants that can successfully help to manage the impact of tourism. Therefore, they may need to seek help of NGOs to provide training.
