HOW DO I REPURPOSE?
1. Start thinking about someone other than you.
John 19:15 (NLT)
When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her,
“Dear woman, here is your son.”
2. God has divine purpose even in our suffering.
John 19:28 (NLT) 28 Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am
thirsty.”
I Peter 5:10 (NKJV)
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after
you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
3. Repurposing your life script requires humility.
John 19:30 (NLT)
When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and released
his spirit.
Seven (7) Things to Release to God:
i.Emotional baggage
ii.Control of your future
iii.Control of the past
iv. Doubt and unbelief
v. An inflated sense of yourself
vi. All lies
vii.Fear of failure

4. God is mindful of us even in our most vulnerable state, so be encouraged.
John 19:36 (NLT)
These things happened in fulfillment of the Scriptures that say, “Not one of his bones
will be broken.”
Seven (7) reasons not to fear:
i. God is your shield and great reward
Genesis 15:1 (NLT)
Some time later, the LORD spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be
afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”
Hebrews 12:2 (NLT)
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects
our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its
shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
ii. God has made provision in and for your famine season
I Kings 17:13
But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but
make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself
and your son.
iii. God stacks the deck for you with more to protect you in perilous times
II Kings 6:16 (NLT)
“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!”
iv. God is your strength in weakness.
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT)
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
II Corinthian 12:7-10 (NLT) 7 Even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me
from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to

torment me and keep me from becoming proud.8 Three different times I begged the
Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works
best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the
power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my
weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer
for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
v. God has claimed you as His own.
Isaiah 43:1-3 (NLT)
But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed
you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name;
you are mine.2When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go
through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of
oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. 3 For I am
the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for
your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
Colossian 3:3 (NLT)
For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
vi. God is concerned about every detail of our lives.
Matthew 10:30 (NLT)
And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.
Psalm 37:23 (NLT)
The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
vii.God’s control is beyond the obvious.
Revelation 1:17-18 (NLT)
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me
and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the living one. I died,
but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.

5. God has a provision of people for you in your current state that have not been revealed to
you.
John 19:38 (NLT)
Afterward Joseph of Arimathea, who had been a secret disciple of Jesus (because he
feared the Jewish leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus’ body.
6. The death sentence you were under will be taken away.
John 20:1 (NLT)
Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and
found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.
Deuteronomy 33:29 (NLT)
“How blessed you are, O Israel! Who else is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is
your protecting shield and your triumphant sword! Your enemies will cringe before you,
and you will stomp on their backs!”
7. Be the first to get to Jesus.
John 20:4-5 (NLT)
They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb
first. 5 He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t
go in.
8. You have got to face your problem to fix it.
John 20:5-6 (NLT)
He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go
in. 6Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside.
a. John out ran Peter but Peter out-couraged John
John 20:5-6 (NLT) He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. 6 Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying
there...

b. Believers need not fear the death sentence of life; don’t fear their graves.
Hebrews 2:14-18 (NLT) 14 Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also
became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying
could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. 15 Only in this way
could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. 16 We also
know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of
Abraham. 17 Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us,
his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest
before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the
people. 18 Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help
us when we are being tested.
c. We must be willing to go through the difficulty, the death sentence, the grave, to get
to Christ.
Job 19:25 (NCV)
I know that my Defender lives, and in the end he will stand upon the earth.
Job 19:25 (NLT)
“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at
last.
9. Leave the garments of your past in the grave God delivered you from.
John 20:6-7 (NLT)
Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, 7 while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other
wrappings.
II Corinthian 4:7-10 (NLT) 7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars
containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not
from ourselves. 8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are
perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God.
We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. 10 Through suffering, our bodies continue
to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.

II Corinthian 4:16-18 (NLT) 16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed
every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce
for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the
troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the
things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
10. When you come out, help those yet in.
John 20: 30 (NLT)
The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in
this book.
Luke 22:32 (NLT) 32 But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you
have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT) 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us
not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially
now that the day of his return is drawing near.
John 15:12 (NKJV) 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
John 15:17 (NKJV) 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
Romans 13:8 (NLT)
Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your
neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.
1 Thessalonians 4:9 (NLT)
But we don’t need to write to you about the importance of loving each other, for God himself
has taught you to love one another.
1 Peter 1:22 (NLT) You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere
love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

1 John 3:11 (NLT)
This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
1 John 3:23 (NLT) And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and
love one another, just as he commanded us.
1 John 4:7 (NLT)
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who
loves is a child of God and knows God.
1 John 4:11-12 (NKJV)
No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has
been perfected in us.
John 13:34-35 (NKJV) 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that
you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love
for one another.”
II John 1:5 (NKJV) 5 And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but
that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.
