total – anguille redevelopmentIn 2012 Sea Trucks Group successfully completed the Anguille pipeline project for Total, Gabon. This EPCIC project consisted of the design, procurement and installation of a 32 km, 18” pipeline between existing platforms in the Torpille and Anguille fields in waterdepths of 30 ~ 40 metres.

After a number of successful accommodation / lifting contracts for Total in West Africa, this contract represented Sea Trucks’ first pipelay project for Total in the region.

The project was executed by Jascon 34, one of Sea Trucks’ DP3 combination construction/pipelay/accommodation support vessels. Engineering works included the design endorsement, detailed design and installation engineering of the pipeline, risers, spoolpieces, riser clamps and riser protection frame, and was performed in-house. Procurement was a significant component of the project and overall in excess of $ 24 million of permanent material (line pipe, structures etc) was procured and fabricated by STG.

The offshore programme was split into two phases, with phase 1 consisting of flare boom removal, crossing installation, rigid pipelay and post-lay survey operations running from June to August and phase 2 including pig running (flooding/cleaning/gauging), riser clamps and riser installation, spoolpiece metrology (to allow accurate fabrication of the spoolpieces done on the Jascon 34 deck), spoolpiece installation and tie-in at each end of the pipeline, installation of a riser protection frame and final hydrotesting and commissioning of the completed pipeline system. All operations were performed from the Jascon 34, with air diving (very effectively by our subcontractor

Project information

Smit Diving) and ROV systems used to complete the subsea works. STG employed Serimax automatic welding for the pipeline welding operations on the Jascon 34, and the daily production regularly exceeded a very credible 120 joints/day of completed butts. The welding failure rate was also better than industry standard at 0.80%.

In addition to the vessel based operations there was significant work done on the two existing platforms to accommodate the risers, which involved the installation of additional bracings and extensive use of

rope access techniques to access the work locations. The entire project was completed without an LTI (Lost Time Injury). The LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate) was 0.0 achieved for the Project with our target having been set at 0.6. The Projects TRIFR (Total Recordable Injuries Frequency Rate) is 1.38 achieved with our target having been set at 2.2.

Jascon 34 successfully completed the pipelay scope and remaining subsea work in Q4 2012.
