About HPVHARegistered as non profit making society is

working since 1987A state Chapter of Voluntary Health Association

of India (VHAI) A federation of 40 Voluntary Organizations and

8000 self help groups engaged in health and developmental activities.

Member of more than 20 State & District level Governing Committees Including many State and District committees under Sanitation.

HPVHA AS SUPPORT ORGANISATION

Himachal Pradesh Voluntary Health Association working as a

Support Organization (SO) for implementation of IEC Activities

under Total Sanitation Campaign and signed the MOU with

concerned DRDA:-

District Bilaspur - June, 2006

District Hamirpur - July, 2008

District Solan - August 2008

District Una - October 2010

Partners of HPVHA are implementing in 4 other districts of the

State.

Demand Driven, Community Led Approach Decentralize Structure District to Ward Promotion of Open Defecation Free/ Nirmal Panchayats Generating demand through IEC, BCC and Social Marketing approaches Support from Political Leadership (Many Initiatives taken) Competition driven (MVSSP, MMPY, SSAS) Incentives for sustainable community-led sanitation Public honouring of Individuals who contributed towards the Campaign. NRHM- Funds utilized for IEC activities by VHSC.

MGNREGA- IEC funds also available for joint IEC campaign.

All the Anganwadi workers have been involved.

Better sanitation facilities ensured in schools with the involvement

of SMC and Schools teachers.

Hygiene education made a part of school education.

Involvement of Line Department

Extensive involvement of field staff of various line departments in the campaign at each level including monitoring and evaluation.

Special trainings/ workshops organized for thrash out plans for intersectoral convergence.

Line Departments are widely involved in the sanitation Weeks. Nodal officers have been appointed by the major connected line

departments e.g. Education, Health, Welfare, IPH, and PWD In the new strategy for effectively meeting out the challenge of SLWM,

School sanitation, Anganwari sanitation and for Community Complexes the role of the line Departments have increased manifolds.

Community toilets and SLWM strategy to involve all the line Departments.

Only One Development Block achieved the statusof Nirmal Block i.e. Development Block Ghumarwin till date in Himachal Pradesh.

All the 693 Gram Panchayats attained the status of ODF and 309 received the Nirmal Gram Puraskar and also received more than 5 crore from award money.

Under MVSSP the panchayats also received more than 1 crore as award money till date and all the prizes up to state level received.

Established Paper recycle plant in District Bilaspur and managed by SHGS/MM group.
