Transitioning to IPv6: Dual-Stack Lite• GW supports Dual-Stack and provisioned
with IPv6 only address.
• Native IPv6 traffic is routed normally.
• GW provides private IPv4 address to LAN-side clients.
• GW encapsulates the IPv4 packet inside an IPv6 packet to cross the IPv6 network to reach a carrier-grade NAT (AFTR).
• Provisioning provides address
of DS-Lite AFTR.

Home Networking Extender (HNE) Auto-Configuration / Synchronization
• The Vision: Creating a Cooperative, Multi-AP Environment
• The Challenges: 1) Lack of a Home Network Controller (HNC) standard
2) Subscribers interfering with Wi-Fi network settings
• The ARRIS HNE Auto-Configuration Protocol ensures:– A trust relationship with added HNE APs is
established before any settings are disclosed
– A well-known data model is used to transfer Wi-Fi settings amongst HNE APs
– Wi-Fi / MoCA settings are configurable on all participating HNE APs in home
– An HNC “environment” is started, enabling future GW manipulation of in-home Wi-Fi experience and addition of other HNC value-added features as they’re made available
The ARRIS HNE Auto-Configuration Protocol has been offered to CableLabs as a candidate for inclusion in future specifications on Wi-Fi network organization.

Speed Tests
• IPv4 Speed Test (16XX and 24XX Products)
• This firmware release supports the ability to originate Speed Test activities on the 16XX and 24XX product lines, when the CM interface is configured with IPv4 format. This Speed Test feature is supported by the custom MIB group arrisSpeedTestMib, by the TR181 (TR143) Download and Upload profiles, and a SpeedTest GUI page under Advanced.

5 GHz Channel support for Europe including DFS support
• Channel map for Europe
• Max TX power Channel 36-64: 23dBm (200mW)
• Max TX power Channel 100-140: 30dBm (1000mW)
• Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) support in U-NII2 ext band required.
• Weather radar detection required 10 minutes band scanning before the AP can transmit. Therefore we disable the channels

Band Steering– Steer Client at Association
Time to the Best Radio Frequency Band• Medium Utilization• RSSI Thresholds or MCS
Rates• Client Capabilities
– Steer Operational Client to Alternative Frequency Band Due to Changes:• Medium Utilization• RSSI or MCS Rates• Client Inactivity
BSS Steering– Steer Client at Association
Time to the Appropriate SSID• Database Maintained
– Only for Encrypted BSSs– Deny Association to ‘other’
BSSs to ‘Steer’ the Client to the ‘Best’ BSS.
– Goal is to have the Client on the appropriate BSS.
– With Airtime Management will give Home Users better user experience in Home than Hotspot Clients
