midi-touring coach doesnt need to fear comparisons, not

even with a full-size touring coach. With its rear-mountedengine and independent front suspension, its vehicle

concept is unique. Featuring 3-star seating, it can carry

34 passengers in comfort. In addition, it is particularly

economic due to its excellent cost-to-performance ratio

and the frugal Euro V or EEV powerplants producing

Innovations that enhance coach safety. As a leading

coachbuilder, the Mercedes-Benz Bus and Coach unit

bears particular responsibility for the safety of passen-

gers and drivers as well as for other road users. Since the

invention of the motorised bus by Carl Benz, Mercedes-

Benz has been pioneering the further development of bus

and coach safety. Many of the innovations that are stan-dard today made their debut in a vehicle bearing the

Mercedes star. Mercedes-Benz pursues the vision of acci-

dent-free driving, with the Mercedes-Benz integral safety

concept contributing substantially to realising this aim.

The benchmark for all-round safety. By consistently

implementing this safety philosophy, the Mercedes-Benz

integral safety concept covers all phases of vehicle safe-

ty: from handling safety through safety in hazardous sit-

uations, protection in the event of an accident, to minimis-

ing the consequences of an accident. The innovative safety

systems on the Tourino provide optimum protection.

Everything under control. The driver workplace is a

highly important safety factor. Its perfected ergonomics

and a generous amount of space, such as is only found in

full-size coaches, support the driver in their highly re-

sponsible job. All the controls and switches are arranged

in a manner that makes them easier to reach, while

the instruments and displays are located so that theyare perfectly in view. There are large stowage facilities

where the drivers personal items can be conveniently

placed. It is even possible to control the climate of the

cockpit individually, to add to the sense of well-being

that helps the driver stay alert, relaxed and safe through-

Built-in guardian angel

Danger of an accident? Relax. Thanks to the special construction of the Tourino the result ofdecades of research and development this coach helps your driver to get your passengers to their

destination safe and sound.

Braking with a system. When it comes to safety, you can-

not raise the bar too high. Thats why the Tourino has

safety characteristics which are normally only featured

by large touring coaches. For example, it is equipped with

an electronic/pneumatic braking system (EBS) as stan-

dard. Not only does this system respond more swiftlythan conventional braking systems, its electronics also

optimise brake wear, so that the brake pads last longer

allowing you to save on maintenance costs. In addition,

the coach is equipped with a retarder as standard. With

its help, your driver can brake without the Tourinos EBS

having to intervene. That takes the strain off the braking

system, and off your budget too.

Automatically more reserves. Can a midicoach be just as

safe as a f ull-size coach? If it is a Tourino, it can. For in-

stance, because the Tourino is equipped as standard with

ESP. No other coach in its class can boast of this elec-

tronic guardian angel at present. Even though ESP has

long since demonstrated its usefulness at defusing criti-cal handling situations both in the passenger car, and in

the large touring coach sector. Apart from ABS and ASR,

Brake Assist (BA) also travels on board. It helps shorten

stopping distance in the event of an emergency braking

manoeuvre, so that the vehicle can come to a standstil l

sooner. Travel safely, travel with the Tourino.

interior of the Tourino impresses with its generous room-

iness. Your passengers will feel at ease right away thanksto the warm friendly ambience created by the tasteful

interior appointments, from the easy-care oor to the

elegant roof trim. Comfortable, newest-generation touring

coach seats make it possible for passengers to relax, even

on long journeys. The optional modern, functional service

sets with LED lighting, allow the ventilation, reading light

Thanks to a broad scope of optional extras and a large
