June 14, 2017 Hilton Garden Inn Saskatoon Downtown Tourism Workplace Leadership Conference “Reaching Up – Coaching, Mentoring and Inspiring Others” AGENDA 10 a.m. Registration Desk Opens 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. KEYNOTE ADDRESS Empowerment Through Coaching and Mentoring Presenter: Kendal Netmaker, Aboriginal Entrepreneur, Founder and CEO of Neechie Gear During the conference’s opening keynote address, Kendal Netmaker, Founder and CEO of Neechie Gear, will share his success story and journey – from growing up on a Saskatchewan First Nation and living on social assistance to becoming an award-winning entrepreneur, who now inspires thousands around the globe to go after their dreams. In Grade 5, Netmaker’s best friend from South Africa gave him a helping hand by providing him with the opportunity to take part in soccer. He never forgot about what his friend had done for him when he later founded the popular clothing company, Neechie Gear. The lifestyle apparel brand empowers youth through sports, and a portion of its profits help to fund underprivileged youth to take part in sports. In his presentation, Netmaker will describe the importance of mentoring and coaching in his approach to business. Since 2011, Netmaker has earned many accolades. That year, he was awarded the Cando Economic Developer of the Year for Aboriginal Private Sector Business, and was one of the winners of the i3 Idea Challenge, presented by the W. Brett Wilson Centre for Entrepreneurial Excellence. He was a double ABEX Award winner in 2012, the year he was also recognized as Saskatoon’s Finest Entrepreneur. In 2015, he was named the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business National Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneur of the Year and was a finalist for Youth Business International Young Entrepreneur of the Year. That year, Netmaker was also the recipient of an Indspire Award and recognized as one of 14 outstanding Indigenous Canadians. CONCURRENT SESSION 3 Tourism HR Canada Educators ForumHuman Capital Issues in Tourism:Tackling Talent Gaps and DeficienciesPresenter: Philip Mondor, President ofTourism HR Canada

Participants will explore the prevailingissues contributing to the short supply ofqualified workers and unique featuresthat make it challenging to attract andretain talent. The group will discusspractical ways in which the educationcommunity can use prevailing research toenhance curriculum that will improve onthe experience for students.

Tourism HR Canada is a nationalorganization working for the tourismsector in Canada, a $88.5-billion industryemploying over 1.7 million people,including more than 500,000 youth.

CONCURRENT SESSION 2 Innovative Trends in HR

In this concurrent session, participantswill look at some of the most innovativeideas and practices that are helping thebest employers to show leadership inhuman resource management.

The second part of this session willinclude facilitated networking. A series offast-paced, small-group discussions ledby expert facilitators will encourageparticipants to discover their owninnovation, generate ideas that they willbe eager to implement, and build anetwork of colleagues who can supportand encourage them to keep theconversations going long after theconference is over.
