Dear Players and DelegatesFirst of all I am extremely proud that I have opportunity to welcome you to Finland. On behalf of the organizing committee and the Senior Golf Association of Finland I warmly welcome you to Finland and its beautiful city of Hämeenlinna. This is the 37th time when this tournament takes place.
Hopefully both courses are in good condition. I also hope that all the other facilities in both clubs will be to your satisfaction. It’s hoped that you can also enjoy some beautiful scenes and moments of the magical summer here in Hämeenlinna during this tournament week. There are 22 participating countries. 21 in the Championship and 22 in the Cup. I believe that we can manage this week in a sportive spirit and a friendly atmosphere.
I also want to thank the organizing committee and all the people who have been involved in the preparation of this event and all the volunteers who will work the next few days.
Hopefully mother nature is favourable and gives us good weather during tournament.I wish you all the best and hope you will enjoy your stay here in Hämeenlinna.

TournamentInfoDeskThe Tournament Info Desk in the lobby at Spa Hotel Aulanko will be in operation from Tuesday August 7th to Friday August 10th from 07:00 to 20:00.
TournamentOffice The Main Tournament Office at Spa Hotel Aulanko will be in operation all Tournament Days from 07:00 to 19:00.
ShuttleBusTransfersShuttle buses will be operating from both hotels to and from the golf courses during the whole competition free of charge. Time table on page 18.
Parking&CostsParking is free of charge at Spa Hotel Aulanko and at the golf courses. At Sokos Hotel Vaakuna parking is available for a fee.
OfficialNoticeBoardsAll information will be available at the notice board located at the hotels and at the golf courses.
PigeonHolesThe pigeon holes (one for each nation) are located at both hotels. Please check your pigeon hole each day for results, tee times, etc.

75 years of golf at AulankoThe two golf courses at Aulanko, the historic 9-hole Hugo course and the modern 18-hole Eversti course, are both named after Colonel Hugo Standertskjöld. The Colonel was one of the wealthiest men of his time in Finland and the founder of the English style landscape park at Aulanko in the 1880’s.Hugo, first opened in 1940, is the oldest course in Finland still retaining its original routing. Eversti, which is the Finnish word for colonel, opened for play in 2006.

Tawast Golf course is an 18-hole course in Hämeenlinna, a city in southern Finland only about 100 km from Helsinki, the capital of Finland. This charming course was designed by Architect Reijo Hillberg to be in perfect harmony with the surrounding woodland, the lake and the beautiful buildings of the area.
The clubhouse used to function as a horse stable for the Katinen Manor. The clubhouse is located in the centre of the course and offers a relaxing atmosphere for a break after 9 holes and of course after 18 holes.

South East, the older of the two courses at Kytäjä was completed in 2003. As the first world-class golf course in Finland it gained immediate interest and attention. Its position as one of the top courses in Finland has only strengthened over the years. The course has a dual personality. The first nine holes are situated in a spacious forest landscape with great variations in elevation. The back nine is more level and open reminiscent of traditional links-style courses. Typical features of the South East course include wide fairways, deep bunkers and large greens. The boldly shaped and multifaceted greens are demanding to play well.

Häme Medieval Castle Häme Castle is one of Finland’s medieval royal castles. It is believed to have been built at the end of the 13th century, following the crusade by Swedish Earl Birger to Häme Region. The main castle in now presented as a historical monument. The castle in open for visitors daily from 10 am to 5 pm.

Take a day off from golf and experience a pleasant excursion in the surroundings of Hämeenlinna. The tour starts with a relaxing boat trip along the beautiful lake Vanajavesi to Visavuori Art Museum. The museun shows the life and works of sculptor Emil Wikström. Lunch is served on the boat. From Visavuori the tour continues to one of Finland s most famous glass works Iittala where you can visit the factory and museum and do some shopping in the several outlet stores.
