my motherHugging the robe that hung in my mothers old bedroom

reminded me of her kind smile. The familiar smell of her perfume brought memories of a soothing and soft voice. I missed the caring and familiar touch a child gets from a mother. As tears ran down my face, I thought about how much I missed her, and kept on telling myself that soon we will reunite.

I was eight years old, when my mother left for America. My sister and I were living with my grand-mother in our Moscow apartment, waiting for the green light to be able to immigrate to America.

As a young girl it was not easy being apart from my mother. My mother was the glue holding our fam-ily together, she was and still is a very hard worker, and she always puts family first. Together with my sib-lings we are number one in her life. Although we got everything we ever wanted my mother made sure that we were not spoiled. She brought us up with dignity and morals. Being good to others was the foundation of our upbringing.

When we finally reunited in America, my mother made sure that we would go to a Jewish School. Un-fortunately she faced some challenges trying to enroll me and my sibling into a religious school. But she al-ways stayed strong and did not give up on her faith. In a few years, my mother started acting on her believes. She began to light Shabatt Candles and observe the laws of Kashrut. Slowly she began learning the beau-ties of Mitzvot. With her faith she brought more light into our home. My mother showed us that observing Jewish Laws is a beautiful thing.

Although we knew we were Jewish, we did not know what it meant. If it was not for my mother, we would still lure in the dark. Her strive toward Judaism gave me reason to want to learn more. Because I saw how dedicated she is to her Jewish roots, I decided to explore what being Jewish is all about. I went to Israel about six years ago, and fell in love with our traditions, when I came back from Israel I began to observe many Jewish Traditions. My younger brother Boris, was also touched by our mothers love and dedication toward Judaism. Boris went to Israel a few years ago, and he is still studying in a Yeshiva in Jerusalem. My older sister began covering her hair, and baking Challah, her husband started wearing a Kippah and learning Torah. My younger sister attends one of the most prestigious Jewish Girls school in Baltimore. There are many more people my mother touched with her faith, outside of our family.

My mother opened the door to Judaism for many people. Because of her many people, including me and my siblings began observing Mitzovt and learn Torah.

Life gives us many joys and challenges, many of us go through it not realizing the point. My mother was able to reach out to hundreds of people showing them the lovely

colors of being Jewish.She is always correct in showing the way. Her advice is

like precious diamonds. Even at her work, many of her clients

come and ask her for advice.My mother is very humble. If you dont know her you

will never know what a precious person she is. She always stays content . She will not show off, or speak loudly. She will never say a bad word about anybody. If she is not feel-ing well or if she is tired, she will not talk about it. She is happy with what she has, and never asks for more. She is quite yet wise, she is forgiving and easygoing, she will never remember the bad, but always smile at the good. She is truly a hero, not just for me or my family but for all those lives she touched with her faith. I hear many people come to me and tell me what an amazing person my mother is, this makes me proud!

Her faith can withstand any test or misfortune. Her kind-ness and simplicity attract. She gives her life to family, and to her family comes first. She will go to any extreme for her children. My mother is very highly appreciated. Its not easy to find words to describe her essenceShe is truly a special person.
