La Grange Park Celebrates 125th Anniversary!
Village Wide Birthday Party, Saturday, July 15
The Village and the Community Park District have partnered together to
throw a Village-wide birthday party. We invite you to grab your picnic
blankets and baskets and come join us at Memorial Park for food, crafts
and activities, and of course, live music. From noon to five bring the
youngsters and enjoy a variety of free activities and entertainment. There
will be several inflatable attractions, including a 28' jumbo slide, a Euro-
bungy, giant tricycles, as well as crafts, bingo, food trucks and a beer
truck. At 5:00 p.m., join us at the amphitheater for a ribbon cutting cere-
mony to unveil the new improvements at Memorial Park, eat some
birthday cake and view the special weaving class gift the seniors of
Plymouth Place are giving the Village. Afterwards, find a cozy spot
on the grass and finish the evening by listening to some great music with
friends and family.

Chaplain Welcome Social, June 23rd
Projects Updates by Dale Lilburn
Things seem to move so slowly, but know that our three big projects for this summer remain a high
priority and progress is being made. The three projects approved for this year are the Employee Park-
ing Lot construction, the remodel of the front entrance/lobby, and the upgrading/replacement of our
emergency call system.
The parking project has been approved by the Village of La Grange Park Zoning Board and first ap-
proval by the Village trustees. At this writing, we expect final approval the last week of June. As-
suming all goes as expected, we will begin some work in early July.
The front entrance refurbishment is, at this writing, awaiting final bids for floor coverings and doors.
After final bids are received and approved we will order materials. We are told that some of the mate-
rials (furniture and floor covering) could take as much as eight weeks. Hopefully, the doors will be
sooner.
The final bids for the emergency call upgrade are due the last week of June. We expect to award the
job by the second week of July. We do not have a good idea about the length of time it will take to
complete this work.
Goodbye from Sharon Sleezer Dear Residents, Staff and Board of Directors of Plymouth Place: To steal the title of one of Paul McCartney’s (post Beatles) songs, this is my
Silly Love Song to all of you who have made my time at Plymouth Place
such an amazing experience. In the 16 years I have been here, as a person I
have grown exponentially and I can’t thank you enough for helping me do
that. To you who have mentored me, befriended me, thank you. To you who
have let me into your homes, your lives, your families, thank you. To you
who have shared your stories of stellar careers, raising amazing children, your
military service and your exciting travels enjoying the penguins of Antarctica and turtles of the Gala-
pagos Islands, thank you. Most of all…to you who have trusted me, thank you. No one has had the
opportunities I have had in working with you and for you. You are some of the most amazing people
in the world! Bless you all. A piece of my heart will always be cloaked in the tapestry of Plymouth
Place.
Love Sharon

Plymouth Place Board: Louise Starmann As a political science graduate working in the Chicago office of Senator
Charles Percy, Louise Starmann never dreamed her path would lead to a
career in social work, specializing in aging services. Growing up on the
south side of Chicago, Louise attended Northern Illinois University and
then became an exchange student in Copenhagen, Denmark. Following
graduation from University of Illinois-Chicago, she joined Percy working
with the legislative assistant to the Senate Select Committee on Aging in
the 1970s.
Louise married John and moved to Burr Ridge where their two boys grew
up. John Jr. now lives in Glen Ellyn with his wife and two children. Scott is in Colorado with his
wife and eight-month old daughter. While her boys were growing up, Louise did volunteer work
for the Percy campaign.
Her interest in social work then led her to a Master of Social Work degree at Jane Addams Col-
lege. She has worked in the field of aging for 25 years providing community based assessments,
elder abuse investigations, and case work before becoming Social Service Director at Aging
Care Connections in La Grange for16 years. Currently she is serving on the State of Illinois
Older Adult Services committee and is an Adjunct Professor at Jane Addams College of Social
Work. She also is a consultant to aging service providers in developing strategic initiatives and
has a private practice working with older adults and families on long term care options.
In her rare free time she enjoys golf, the beach, hiking and being with grandchildren.
Plymouth Place features a life care benefit, that guarantees priority access to assisted living, skilled nursing care and memory support at stabilized costs, if ever needed.
