He was surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Alice. His daughter Linda (Jeff) Mckinney. Three sons John (Tony) Flores, (Karen) Steven (Sandra) Flores, and Richard (Rosie) Flores. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren JJ, Bubba, Chelsea, Andrew, Russell, Issac, Kimberly, Alcia, RJ, Michael, Heatherm Mauricio, and Patti. Great grandchildren: Faith, Alexis, Ryane, Evianna, Ashton, Steven, Elena, Nico, Julianna, Paisley, Wyatt, Leah, Delilah, and Danon. Two more wil be arriving in August. His brother, Augustine (Barbara) Flores, his sisters, Carmen (Alfonso) Guzman, Rachel (Dickie) Smith, Dodi Flores and many nieces and nephews. John was born June 23, 1937 in Winslow and attended Winslow Schools, He married Alice on June 25, 1955. He was on a brief ac- tive duty with the 222 Trans-Company National Guard Unit from Winslow at Fort Ord, California for one year. He was an avid guitar player in his early years. He loved camping with family and friends, unitl his health started to curtail all these activities. This included leaving his employment on medical disability orders from two doctors. He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Mary Flores, his brothers Phillip Flores Jr. , Freddie Gonzales Sr. and his grandson, Asron Flores. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the arthritis foundation. Services to be held at a later date. Happy Birthday!!! John Talavera Flores, 80, A longtime resident of Winslow passed away peacefully on May 1, 2018 in his home where he had resided for over 40 years. He was surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Alice. His daughter Linda (Jeff) Mckinney. Three sons John (Tony) Flores, (Karen) Steven (Sandra) Flores, and Richard (Rosie) Flores. Southern Gospel Music HitsSouthwestern Navajo Nation!!!

Leupp, AZ - Revealed Music, a southern gospel youth group form Sanostee, NM, plays at Leupp First Presbyterian church, 6:30 p.m., May 19 (Sat.). The young men in the music ministry are comprised of Faron Lewis, and Noah and Kyle Begay of Mesa Baptist church at Sanostee.

They are “driven by the passion to spread the message of God’s love through gospel music.” Formed in 2013, their first “Say Amen” album CD came out in March. They’ve already planned the 3rd annual South-western Praise and Prayer Fellowship July 20-21, 2018 in Sanostee.

Leupp Presbyterian church is located between milepost 2 and 3 on Navajo Route 2 where Calvin Kelly is the pastor. Sin Iliinii Singers and Hope Resurrected perform weekly at the 10:30 a.m. (MST) Leupp Sunday service. Revealed Music will also play at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 20th. For more info call 928-587-1413.

Winslow residents! Open invitation to place 160 flags the City of Winslow have donated toward the Desert View Cemetery Flag Project, on Saturday May 12th at 9 a.m. Family of Veterans at the cemetery are encouraged to participate and place a flag on their loved one’s grave. There are 232 flags already placed and a list of those will be provided at the site. This will get us over half of the 723 flags needed to complete the project.
