The Langham Theatrical Company Presents A GOOD, OLD FASHIONED REDNECK COUNTRY CHRISTMAS

Under the direction of: Gillian Pearson and Sela Balzer as assistant director.

We are excited about our 2014 fall production as it is Christmas story that is guaranteed to touch your heart. The story begins in Lou’s Diner, it is the friendliest place in the south but this Christmas Eve Lou (played by Treena Rowat) and the girls (Corinne Waldner and Janene Bueckert) are steamed. Lou’s husband, Bill, (played by Marty Bembridge) and his pals Dave (Steven Balzer) and Jimmy (Erron Leafloor) have taken off for a day of hunting in the mountains. Seems the boy’s way of dealing with, or rather avoiding their family issues is by getting out of town for the day. With the warm-hearted women hard at work in the diner and the men staunchly avoiding the traditional holiday you will witness each group’s perspective of the other through the eyes of Bob, a stranded truck driver (played by Darrell Novakovski).

Then Mary Sue, a young pregnant and heart-rending stranger (played by Dale Johnson) gets lost in the woods and the town’s young med student (played by Chris Byers) is sent out to look for her. May Sue delivers her baby in a cow shed in the middle of a blizzard and the red-neck boys become the most unlikely Wise Men at the Nativity you will ever see! Bob is there to witness it all and gives you the narrative of their adventure. The first miracle of Christmas blesses everyone in this tender comedy, and with simplicity and grace, gently reminds the audience of the real reason for the season!

Sewer and Water News

The Town crew will be flushing all fire hydrants starting Week of May 12, 2014

through to the first snow/freeze up in Fall.

The Langham Fire Department will again be conducting training this summer from May 20th to September 9th, on Tuesday nights from 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. where fire hydrants may be used causing fluctuation in water

pressure.

This process may cause sediment to be

released throughout the system and may cause a temporary discoloration of the water. Check your water prior to washing clothes to ensure that it is not colored so that you can avoid staining your laundry.

Water services will not be interrupted but water pressures may be low at times. Thank you for your patience while we perform this necessary procedure.

Thank you...Langham Town Crew

A reminder to all who still have outstanding 2014 taxes, as of September 1st, 1% interest will be added to all unpaid taxes per month. If you are not able to make it during the Town Office hours, we have a mail slot on the East side of the building. Please put your payment in an envelope and we will process it the next business day. If you would like to arrange to leave us monthly cheques to cash, please call during our office hours and make arrangements.

We care about our community and are currently working on updating emergency planning procedures, including a community siren for emergencies. With help from the community, we will be prepared. This does not have to be a time consuming task, you can be as heavily involved as you wish, or just attend quarterly meetings for emergency preparedness updates. Our family time is important and with your help, we can be prepared as a community. Any involvement you would like to give is appreciated. Please contact: Tracy Simpson—EMO Coordinator

An-other event that had good attendance was our Funtazm-Silly Science Stage Show, we had 29 participants and it totally ROCKED! We experimented with Dry Ice and shot rockets off in the parking lot of the Affinity Community Hall! Heather made a life size Chutes and Ladders game which we can use over and over! We ended our season with a “banging” (quoted from our Facebook page) Teen dance. Attendance to
