LIMITATIONS OF THESE DATA

The findings contained in the next four pages result from a survey of Sandwich residents conducted in Spring/Summer 2001 (“Household Survey”). One in every 65 Sandwich households was surveyed. While researchers made every attempt to survey a random sample of residents, there is no guarantee that these findings are representative of all Sandwich residents. Thus, the reader should consider these data to be indicators of the human condition in Sandwich.

** RESIDENT SURVEY RESULTS ** FOR

SANDWICH, MASSACHUSETTS

RESIDENT SURVEY RESPONSES:

Of the Sandwich households randomly selected for participation in The Human Condition 2001 Household Survey, 113 completed and returned the survey questionnaire. This number represents 4% of the total number of surveys collected across Barnstable County. A detailed Socio-Demographic Profile of the 113 Sandwich households sampled is provided in Appendix 2.C. The following two sections summarize the perspectives of these Sandwich households concerning important social issues, potential problem areas, and barriers to access to needed human services.

RESIDENT PERSPECTIVES:

Household-Level Issues:

Sandwich respondents included in their list of problems (“household issues”) ten of twelve of the issues from the County’s Top Twelve Household Issues list, but in a slightly different rank order. Finding time to spend with family appears to be of a higher priority in Sandwich than across the County as a whole.
