Cy-Fair Hospital is the first in northwest Houston to offer MAKOplasty.®

Attend the Cy-Fair Express Network (CYFEN) luncheon Oct. 23 and have the opportunity to hear this month’s keynote speaker Dr. Audre Levy, president of Lone Star College-CyFair.

Perhaps one of the labels Dr. Levy most proudly wears is that of a lifelong learner.  Amazingly, she has five advanced graduate degrees, has worked in all levels of education and has served as an administrator for more than 15 years, with the past five at LSC-CyFair.

However, more important to her than her resume of experience and education is how she approaches life.  “I believe anything and everything is possible with the right attitude…” and as LSC-CyFair celebrates an enrollment milestone with the 20,000th student registered for the fall 2014 semester, Dr. Levy and her staff’s commitment just got more demanding.

“LSC-CyFair was originally built to serve 10,000 students and we have now reached another historical milestone of 20,000. We

have exceeded all expectations and are now four times the size of most community colleges,” said Dr. Levy. “Our rapid growth is testament to the need in our community for high quality affordable education options.”

All are welcome to meet Dr. Levy and learn about the continued growth plans for LSC-CyFair at this month’s CYFEN meeting, which begins with networking at 11 a.m. followed with a prompt 11:30 a.m. start of the program. Monthly meetings are held the fourth Thursdays at the Sterling Country Club, 16500 Houston National Blvd.

Bring business cards for networking. The meeting cost is $25 with advanced reservations

made by the Thursday prior to the meeting and $30 at the door.CYFEN is part of the national organization of American

Business Women’s Association, for more information or to register for the luncheon go to www.CYFEN.org.

The ‘Take Care of Texas’ Quick Guide to RecyclingRecycling allows individuals to give new life to the products

they use. When manufacturers use recycled materials in their products, not only does it conserve natural resources and reduce waste in landfills, it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions through energy savings.

Our national recycling rate is only 34.5 percent annually but is responsible for sending 87 million tons of material to a useful second life instead of the landfill. These recycling efforts save Americans the equivalent of the annual energy consumption of nearly 10 million U.S. households per year and avoids greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions equivalent to removing more than 33 million cars from the road each year.

Please help us increase our annual recycling rate! Visit KeepCyfairBeautiful.org to access the ‘Take Care of Texas’ free publication ‘What Do I Do With It Now?’ and learn more about where to recycle more than just paper, cardboard, bottles and cans!

5th Annual Running for Greater Things

Saturday November 8, 2014

Our GoalThe goal of this event is to raise money for the HOPE Project

in Kigali, Rwanda. The HOPE Project is led by Ten Talents International, and stands for Housing, Opportunity, Purpose, and Education. Orphaned boys and girls in Kigali, Rwanda are in need of a safe home where they can have the opportunity to go to school, receive medical care, and have basic needs met. Property has already been purchased and work has begun to build a girls’ home and boys’ home to give these children a safe place to live and learn. This project will be completed in three phases and this year we are supporting Phase 1.

One Community, One PurposeWe invite area churches and orphan/adoption ministries to join

with us as we share with our community opportunities to get involved with caring for the orphan. Join us race day as a runner, volunteer, and/or share your Orphan Care ministry booth on campus. For more info please visit: runningforgreaterthings.com
