Overburden
Quartzite, dark grey, ganular, varying in siae of grain from
sandy to gritty. There are 2 sections 1^' long each of lost
core. The scintilloneter count varies from 50 to 60. In
other words, barely more than normal background (background
in this area is 50).
Quartzite as above; dark grey in color, even granular but not
coarse. The scintilloneter count from 100* to 120* is barely
over normal.
Quartzite, as above but more evenly granular and consistently
dark in color. The scintillometer count in this cection is
consistently 150 i.e. 3 times background.
Quartzite, very sinilar to section above. The scintillometer
count again is consistently 150 - sometines 160, and
occasionally 175.
Quartzite, slightly lighter in color than above and possibly
slightly finer grained. There are 2 sections, each 1.0* long
of lost core. The scintillometer count in this section la
definitely not as high as the section above i.e. count
is 100, or 2 tines background. k
Quartzite, fairly light in color as above and consistently
granular in appearance, fine to medium grained. The
scintillometer count in this section reaches a high of 125
but for the most part is only 100, or 2 to 2^ times background*
Quartzite, lieht in color, fine grained as in sections
immediately above. A basic dike 3' in width is present in
section 226.0 to 229.0', The scintillometer count is
consistently in the area of 100, i.e. 2 or possibly 2| tines
background.

Description -
Quartzite, as above, light in color and gradually becoming
coarse grained with a few snail gritty quartzitic pebbles
the middle part of the section. The scintillometer count
is low, i.e. 50 - nomal background.*
Quartzite, as above, medium to coarse grained with fairly
numerous light colored pebbles in evidence. The core is
remarkably light in color, appears somewhat bleached. It
is definitely not an attractive section for uranium since
the count is consistently 50 to 60, i.e. normal background,
Quartzite, identical with section immediately above with
traces here and there of light Colored quartz fragments or
pebbles in a very light colored quartzite. The scintillometer
count is consistently normal background, i.e. 50*
Quartzite, identical with the sections above, namely a trace
here and there of ghost-like quartz pebble or quarts conglom
erate fragments. The scintillometer count is consistently
50, i.e. normal background.
Quartzite as above.
Vein quartz, milky white, uninteresting; quartz containing
fragments and wisps of chlorite.
Diabase diko with chilled borders, i.e. fine grail* contacts
with quartzite on each side of the dike. The central portion
of the dike is coarse grained with lath-shaped feldspars in
evidence throughout.
Quartzite, medium to coarse grained, identical with the
formation on the other side of the diabase dike. The
scintillometer reading is consistently normal, i.e. 50*
throughout the dike and throughout the quartzite on either
side of the dike.
Quartzite as above, medium to fairly coarse grained and
consistently light in color* The scintillometer count
remains at 50 except with the occasional burst to 75*
Quartzite as above, except appears to be becoming coarser
grained with evidence here and there of milky quarts
pebbles. There are 2 sections of lost core, each 1*5* long*
Quartzite, medium to coarse grained, granular, light in
color as in section above* The scintillometer count is
consistently about 75, i.e. 1^ times normal background.

Quartzitic conglomerate with sections 0.5* in width at 136.5, 144.0, 148.5, 150.5, 153.0, 158.0, 177.0, 179.0, 181.0, 184.0
of well defined pebble conglomerate which are well mineralised with pyrite and give scintillometer readings of 100-150, 75-100, 60-100, 60-125, 50-80, 50-190, 75-80, 75-100, 60-90, 40-50 respectively. Entire section is sericitized and hydrothercally altered to a lemon yellow color.
Pebble conglomerate, brecciated in appearance and quite dark dark in color, disseminated pyrite and considerable chlorite throughout. One 0.5* section at 188.0' of dark pebble conglomerate which gives reading of 50-60; all other readings40-50.
Pebble conglomerate as above, one half of section heavily mineralized with disseminated pyrite in granular chloritic material which is quite "hot" (250 reading), rer.iinder gives reading 60-100..
Chloritic schist, schistose phase of Greenstone basement.
Greenstone, medium grained, granular, soft, appears to hove
soaked up U~0g which has migrated from sedimentary beds above;
readings of 400 and 450 obtained in 0.1* sections. Pitchblende
seam recognized on one slip face.
Mixture chloritic material and quartzitic conglomerate.
(2. 5' lost core) Pink, cherty, fragmental flow top with few short sections of chloritic schist. Disseminated pyrite throughout but no reading above 50.
(1.5' lost core) Pink, cherty, frapnental flow top material brecciated and rather well mineralized with coarse and fine disseminated pyrite, (practically no radioactivity).

Description

The work consisted of drilling 5 holes which represents an aggregate

Elliot Lake-Blind River area of northern Ontario.
