SDG Coordination framework
The Coordination Framework was developed through consultative processes, under the leadershipof the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), with support from the UNDP.
The Framework was adopted in May 2016 and validated by the Cabinet of Ministers and Parliament
Framework is anchored within the existing coordination structures of implementing governmentbusiness and provides strategic guidance on the roles and responsibilities of key institutions
The Framework spells out clear mandates for five Technical Working Groups (TWGS)
Planning and Mainstreaming
Resource mobilization & Financing
Communication and Popularisation
Data Technical Working Group (The Data TWG comprises of technical officers
(mainly statisticians) from MDAs)
Coordination Monitoring & reporting
What gov't of Uganda has done to support Monitoring and Reporting of SDGs
Focal Minister for SDGs & SDG Secretariat
Leadership & political oversight
Presents periodic reports on SDG implementation and policy
recommendations to Cabinet and chairs the Core Team of selected
ministers to oversee the implementation of SDGs
To provide technical support, advice and expertise to the MDAs, private sector, civilsociety, academic institutions to accelerate the implementation of the SDG agenda
To be the hub of SDG information and data for the government and other stakeholders
Steer the coordination function and support oversee and harmonise theimplementation and reporting of SDGs in Uganda
Coordinate monitoring and assessment of local implementation and progress of theSDG agenda in Uganda
Building Strategic Partnerships with Private Sector on financing and innovation forSDGs

Key action to strengthen SDG Monitoring and Reporting
• The Data TWG comprises of technical officers (mainly statisticians) from MDAs
• Members meet every quarter to review the SDG Indicator matrix
• SDG indicators have been integrated into the National Statistical IndicatorFramework and PNSD
• The SDG Indicators are now being localized to have monitoring and reporting atdistrict level, we have already mapped out 20 SDG indicators for localization
• Started engagement with SDG Centre for Africa to have an SDG synthesis platformto develop national level dashboards and score cards
• Engaging CSOs to contribute to SDG monitoring through Citizen Generated Data
• Developed an SDG data production road map: Target is 150 indicators by end of2021
