With over 145 suppliers now on the show floor, Trade Days provides retailers, distributors and wholesalers the opportunity to meet the companies who want to do business with them in one place, at one time and with the knowledge that they are there to spend their time with just the trade.
It means that every single company you see in the show is there for just one reason – to meet and do business with people like yourself!
TRADE DAYS opens on October 5th and 6th after a launch and development period that has seen both suppliers and retailers give huge support to the concept of a ‘trade only’ event. It’s the show that was conceived by the trade, developed by the trade and has been impressively backed by the trade.
As you may have seen over the past months, exhibitors booked into the show early, with incredibly positive messages of support. Retailers too were quick to give the new event the thumbs up.
Right at the start there were a number of guarantees for visitors. They were that anyone coming along would:
When the Trade Days concept was first mentioned to us, we all knew that it was right for our marketplace at this time. Some of us attend other shows, some of us don’t, but we were all keen to support an event with the raison d’etre “just for the trade”.
The new show has had a great deal of publicity. The organisers have put in place a very extensive promotional campaign and THIIS magazine has updated the trade every month on how the show has developed and grown. Exhibitors have been very pro-active and it’s likely that you have been contacted or received information about the show and the great deals to be secured a number of times now.
Dear visitor: A message from our exhibitorsThere are only a few weeks before Trade Days opens its doors for the first time and many of the exhibitors, like ourselves, who have been planning for the new event for quite some time, are really looking forward to seeing you there.
We believe the show floor is going to be like nothing else you will have seen before. There will be familiar companies, and there may be companies that you haven’t heard of before – there will certainly be opportunities to do business that you hadn’t considered before.
It’s all looking great, but our message with the pre-show newspaper is that it will only be really great if you are there too. Do take the time out to come and see us, talk business with us and think about your business in a totally trade focussed environment.
So, on behalf of all the exhibitors who will be at Trade Days, we really look forward to seeing you, and your team there.
• learn something to take back and implement in their business straight away.
• have all the time they need to talk business in a professional environment with new and existing suppliers
• find new products to benefit their business and customers

“Fantastic news! At last, somebody has listened. A dedicated trade show is long overdue and I think it will breathe new life into the healthcare exhibition circuit. A different approach with some new ideas is just what we need to stimulate fresh thinking. I’m genuinely looking forward to this new opportunity and I’ll be supporting the initiative all the way - let’s hope the rest of the industry do too!”
Geoff Morris, Director, Uniscan “From a retailer point of view this type of ‘Trade Only’ event is long overdue. Although it’s always useful to attend other events where there is a mixture of visitors, it can be very difficult to actually ‘talk business’. A couple of days where we can discuss confidential issues and spend more time in detailed discussions is just what we need right now.”
Alastair Gibbs, Managing Director TPG DisableAids Ltd
“Our industry has grown tremendously over the past few years with many more retailers and suppliers active in many more sectors. There was always going to be a time when the industry would be understandably keen to have its own space when everyone in the business can come together to do business. I believe that time is now.”

Eight solid reasons why you should visit Trade Days
Please note: There is no admittance to the General Public or minors
1. Because… you’ll be coming to something new, something different and something that has been created and designed especially for you by people who you know and do business with. This event is solely about the trade with no consumers admitted to the show.
2. Because… we guarantee you’ll discover lots of new stuff. New ways to do business, new ways to sell, new markets to sell into and new products to add to your range.
3. Because… you can bring the whole team and every single one of them will get something out of being there. Whether it’s meeting suppliers for the first time, learning in one of the seminars or just spending time being ‘part of the industry’, it will be time very well spent.
4. Because… you’ll spend time in a space that is all about the industry you are involved in, with time to really think about your own business and it’s the perfect time to do business with the people you need to sit down with.
5. Because… you’ll see things that you have never seen at a UK show before. Things that will give you great ideas for the future, things that will help you increase your bottom line and things that will make you very pleased you took the decision to come along.
6. Because… we appreciate it is hard to take time away from your business. So we have opened the show on the Sunday, at a time when you won’t be distracted by the day to day things that you have to deal with.
7. Because… many of the people you do business with will be there - it’s their enthusiasm that has driven the development of Trade Days
8. Because… if you don’t come, you’ll miss out!

LET’S TALK RETAIL: Session promises lively views and debate
There will be three main topics of discussion, which are:
What are the challenges to a retail business over the next few years and what is keeping our panel members awake at night?
What do the panel members believe are the opportunities for their business in the next few years – what do they think they will be doing in the future that they aren’t doing now?
And, what type of support would they like to see from suppliers in the future - what could suppliers can do better to help retailers sell more?
The Panel members are Alastair Gibbs from TPG Disableaids, Gary Wright from AJM Healthcare, Jo Bonser from Healthcare Services, Mike
Williams from Ableworld and Ailsa Reston from RKS Ltd. They represent different retail businesses of various sizes, with different models of doing business. They all have different backgrounds too and, quite likely, different opinions too.
In discussions about the challenges they are going to face in the future, our panel members have mentioned a variety of things. They range from the thought that the challenges might not necessarily be market led but are more likely to be legislation led, to the issue of employing the next person to support the business without overstretching yourself or without running your present people into the ground. Competing with low service, web only outlets, while ensuring that customers place sufficient perceived value on high service levels has been mentioned, as has
One of the first sessions at Trade Days, promises lively debate about the state of retailing in the marketplace, with a panel of retailers giving their views and responding to questions and points of view from audience members.
meeting customers’ expectations of value for money whether about the product or the service.
The opportunities that they have identified have been, according to one panel member ‘endless’. They include the normalisation of many of the products that are currently sold as ‘disability’ products which will simply become lifestyle products, an opportunity to acquire retailers to grow the business and a move to voucher and prescription models for all types of equipment, which should provide new opportunities as it gains traction. Working more closely with professionals in social services, NHS and the independent sector is seen as being an opportunity too as state provision dwindles.
It promises to be an interesting and thought-
provoking session and, like all the seminars at Trade Days, is free to attend. The session is scheduled for the Business Builder No 1 theatre which you will find at the back of the exhibition hall.
The session takes place at 10.15am on Sunday October 5th. Register to attend the show at www.tradedays.co.uk
Gary Wright, Alastair Gibbs, Ailsa Reston, Jo Bonser and Mike Williams will be giving the retailer point of view in one of the first sessions at the new trade event.

First time promotion for established supplier
The company has been producing adjustable beds for over 40 years and now has 65% of the adjustable bed market in the UK.
Aubane Hilliard, Sales and Marketing Manager said: “It’s not surprising that retailers in this sector are not aware of us as it’s not a marketplace we have been that active in until now. Over the past three years though we have developed a range of riser recline chairs which have become popular with the furniture outlets that we deal with.”
She added: “We employ around 190 people and sales have grown 15-20% year on year for the last 4 years. We manufacture adjustable beds, divan beds and riser recline chairs. We also produce upholstered bed frames that we have recently launched which have the option of either adjustable or static frames.”
The move to exhibit at Trade Days reflects a desire by the company to become better known in our sector. “We are not as well-known as we could be and as we haven’t really promoted into this sector before, retailers have come across us at other shows maybe, found us online or been approached by one of our Agents.” Aubane told us. “We do have retail customers in the mobility sector, but clearly the majority are not as aware of us as we would like them to be and so there is plenty of scope for us to get the message across about the company and the products we
have to many more customers. Trade Days has come at just the right time for us.”
Asked why retailers should be interested to talk to the company at Trade Days, Aubane says: “We offer a quick ship program for the chairs which we believe retailers will be interested in. We can get a chair to a customer within 24 hours. There are three different styles in the range with a button back, a two cushion and a waterfall back. Adjustable beds are also available on a next day service.”
You can find Furmanac on stand E39
One of the companies on the Trade Days exhibition floor is promoting to retailers in this sector for the first time at a show, but is by no means a new business. Furmanac is a family owned company that was established in 1972 and manufacturers a range of adjustable beds and chairs. Well-known for its MiBed adjustable bed range, supplying hundreds of furniture outlets around the UK, the company recently launched riser recline chairs too.
Quick questionnaire as retailers urged to grasp ‘techie’ nettleIan Slaughter, Director of Assistive Technology says: “It is now almost inconceivable to find a shop that does not have barcode scanning at the till. What’s even more rare is to find a modern retailing business that does not have an effective database to keep in touch with its customers and promote the “offer of the week/month/decade” using their Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.”
He believes that Assistive Partner has a simple solution. “We have perfected a specialist mobility retailing software solution which is affordable.
The team at Assistive Partner believe that now is the time for our sector to grasp the nettle and use the technology on offer to make life easier in the business, both for themselves and their customers.
It will help any retailing operation that wants to modernise. And it’s used on the internet with a really affordable subscription, from about £17 a day. We’re sure that we can show retailers how our subscription-based; cloud accessed application allows small businesses to gain the advantages enjoyed by their larger competitors with a lot more flexibility.”

Looking to build ramp retail network
It’s a name that you might not have heard of if you are a retailer in the business and that’s mainly because Philip and his team have been developing a number of market sectors. However, now the sights are firmly set on supplying mobility and rehab retailers across Europe with a product range that Philip believes will sell well in any showroom.
The company will be at Trade Days to promote a business that is now selling over 12,000 units each year.
Philip said: “We started to sell ramps into the mobility sector around 2008. We’ve built that part of the business up over the years but it’s possible that the majority of the retailers won’t have come across us before. We haven’t spent much time trying to develop retailers before but now’s the time to change that.”
He added: “We know that we have barely scratched the surface when it comes to doing business in this sector. We have a solid base of trade customers who sell our product, but it’s just a few accounts at the moment and we are aiming to have a good deal more.”
When asked why he believes retailers will be interested in the products he gives a very short answer. “Quality at a great price” he says. An identically specified product that another company might sell to trade for around £80.00, we will sell to the retailer for around £35.00. We make our money because we sell in volume
and the retailer gets the benefit of that. We specialise in the products and so we really know them inside out which is also an advantage. We have next day delivery as standard and the cheapest shipping price in the industry. We also have a UK wide modular ramp installation service, with full specification and technical drawing assistance free of charge.”
And Trade Days is the venue that Philip has chosen to promote his retailer packages as he explained: “Trade Days offers us our first opportunity to produce a focussed promotion for retailers and we believe it is going to be a great place for us to be to get the message across about the quality and competitiveness of our products.”
And Philip says that The Ramp People stand will be the one to visit for anyone looking for new items. “We have a number of new products that will be shown on the stand including an extensive economy wheelchair range, some new channel ramps and new premium ramps too. The premium ramps have high visibility plastic markings for those users with limited vision.”
The Ramp People will be on stand H14 at Trade Days.
THE RAMP PEOPLE was launched from a spare bedroom in 2006 by Philip Shaw and he has spent the past eight years building a sizeable business supplying a wide variety of access products.
The Trade Days Photo Shoot Are your team photos dated and cheesy like this?
If so, come along to our photo booth on the exhibition floor at Trade Days where our onsite photographer will be on hand to photograph you and your colleagues.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get some up-to-date photos to use across your company collateral, adding a nice personal touch to your organisation and the best part is that it’s completely free of charge to all exhibitors and delegates.
Say “cheese!”
VISITORS TO TRADE DAYS will have the opportunity to pick up products at specially discounted trade prices as StockShop Live features on the Assistive Partner stand.StockShop has run in THIIS magazine for a number of years and offers suppliers the opportunity to promote end of line unused stock to retailers. StockShop Live will be available to all Trade Days exhibitors to promote products that they have in the warehouse and which they are looking to sell at reduced trade prices.
Julian Cobbledick of Assistive Partner said: “StockShop has worked well through THIIS magazine for companies to get products
into showrooms and retailers have taken advantage of some great deals. Retailers will be able to see the deals live at the show and so could walk away having made a great purchase with excellent margins.”
Visitors will be able to view the offers at one of three staffed computer terminals on stand G50, where they can see how many offer items are remaining and place orders in real-time.
The StockShop Live system can be used to promote any products, as long as they have been available on the marketplace for at least 18 months.
StockShop Live
Grab yourself a bargain
The auction will feature every product on the Kymco stand, giving retailers plenty of opportunity to make a successful bid.
Managing Director Mark Hermolle said: "We wanted to do something different and fun at the show and we believe that our auction will be just that. Retailers could well walk away from the show with a real bargain. We are sure that anyone visiting Trade Days will find it a useful
and valuable day out, but the auction could make it a very profitable one too for the retailers who come up with the winning bids."
Apart from the auction, the Kymco stand promises to be very lively, with a dancing performance on the Sunday – details of that are under wraps and so you'll have to come along to find out more!
NEWAT
Looking for something new?One of the reasons that people don't visit shows is that they don't think they will find anything new. Well, at the time of going to press, over 600 'NEW' signs had been ordered by exhibitors to highlight the latest products on their stands at Trade Days.
The good news is that every single one of those products could be in your range in the future, as every single exhibitor is looking to build a retail network.
So, if you want to see over 600 products that you could be selling very shortly, register to visit today.
THE TEAM at Kymco Healthcare have come up with a different retailer promotion at Trade Days. The company will be holding an auction on the stand each day at 2.30pm when retailers will have the opportunity to bag themselves a real bargain or two.

Dayclox
One of the most exciting developments in recent years, is a digital clock with 8 built-in languages, full day/date recognition including leap years, a memory backup for power failures plus other unique features.
The impressive “Easy to Read” display found favour with and is regularly recommended by Doctors and Occupational Therapists the world over.
Its future-proof features, the display in English, Welsh, French, German, Polish, Dutch, Italian or Spanish. 12 or 24 hour mode, British or American style date mode, has created a truly International time piece.
A small British company, Dayclox Ltd in North Wales, designed it and in no time at all, their 8” display International Calendar Day Clock excited and was embraced by many of the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Community, who could see its potential for sufferers, carers and the sight impaired. Dayclox listened to suggestions to perfect the clock with minor changes for their needs, and the clock developed.
Many asked for a large display to use in hospital wards, community housing, schools and other situations, but no one really knew what size they actually wanted!
Making a new clock somewhere between 12” to 50” would be a very expensive alternative to complement the immensely popular 8” digital clock, which already satisfies most situations.
Design manager Bob McAlister took a completely new technical approach in developing the existing clock to become the world’s first HDMI digital calendar day clock: Allowing the same already successful clock to connect to almost any size HDMI TV or monitor with the bonus that they can both still be used independently!
Connection to a BIG SCREEN is so simple and the cable is in the box.
Dayclox’ future looks great, with agents in the USA, Canada and Europe.
Clearly a great Innovation! For more information visit: www.dayclox.com
