Bethlehem AcademyAdvancement/Alumni OfficeBecause of the many donors to this wonderful school, theBethlehem Academy Advancement Office has developed an“attitude of gratitude” to our benefactors.

During the past fiscal year of July 1, 2009 through June 30,2010, Bethlehem Academy was blessed with over $475,000 indonations from (1,100) donors who made these contributionsthrough (1,900) charitable gifts. In late June, the school wasmade aware of another estate gift from a BA graduate, whonamed the school in his will. And in July, BA was informedabout another estate gift from a BA graduate who also namedthe school in her will.

This type of generosity to Bethlehem Academy not onlysupports the school today, but will insure support into the future.

These are exciting and extraordinary times at BethlehemAcademy. As the school celebrates its 145th year of operation, school leadership launched a Capital Campaign on September19 announcing plans for an addition to be build on the south sideof the BA building. Over 400 people attended the CampaignLaunch Event where the supporters were informed of nearly$3 million in pledges being made before the Campaign hadbegun.

The goal of the campaign is to improve the facilities for theBethlehemAcademy band, choir and theater, making additionalspace available for the growing number of students involved inthose activities. The plan is to also construct a new gymnasiumto answer space needs for boys and girl’s athletic teams andactivities. The campaign also invites donors to makecontribution to increase the endowed scholarship funds so morefamilies can afford to send their children to BA. And thecampaign also seeks to raise funds to build an elevator to makethe entire school handicapped accessible.

ThisCapital Campaign is the first such campaign for BA sincethe Sinsinawa Dominicans raised $1 million back in 1949 toconstruct the current BA building.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, Bethlehem Academyalso will be asking supporters to contribute to the BA AnnualFund which helps to provide the annual operational costs tosupport the education of the 300 students enrolled at BA thisfall.

We ask for your prayerful consideration to support both the BACapital Campaign and the BAAnnual Fund with your charitablegifts this year. Thank you for yourgenerous support.

From the Desk ofSherri LangfeldtBA President/PrincipalWhat a glorious day! The sun is shining and, asI look out my window, I am assaulted by an

array of colors that overwhelm my senses! Sitting in thePresident/Principal’s desk at BA, I have come to understand thatthis too can be an overwhelming experience.I am hit at odd times with the important responsibility that hasbeen entrusted to me and to all of us that are part of the BAfamily. We are entrusted with ensuring the continuation of animportant mission that has been in existence for 146 years. Ourmission is to empower this generation of Bethlehem Academystudents and staff to achieve personal, spiritual and academicexcellence. We challenge ourselves to love as Jesus Christloved, to lead, to serve, to inspire and to seek the Truth: Veritas.THIS IS NO SMALL TASK!As most of you have heard by now, Bethlehem Academy isinvolved in a capital campaign designed to address the needs ofpresent and future generations of BAstudents. Four major needshave been identified: additional space for our growing band, choir and theatre programs; added facilities for physicaleducation and athletics, an elevator to make our buildingaccessible to all; and additional monies in endowed scholarshipswhich make a BA education available to all.Over the past six months Franz Boelter and I have met with BAalumni around the country and have shared with them the plansthat are the future of BA. We have also met with many moregraduates at class reunions. What a privilege it is to meet suchwonderful people! Although BA alums live in many differentplaces and have chosen a wide variety of paths, they all sharecommonality in both their generosity and in their loyalty to theiralma mater, BethlehemAcademy. We have been met with overwhelming support as we share plansand our vision for BA, both locally and with our broader base ofNational alumnae and supporters. Everyone sees that our needsare clear. We NEED more space. We NEED our building to beaccessible to all, and we NEED to ensure financial support forall families. In this initial silent Leadership gifts phase, we have received fiveyear pledges ranging from $500 from a college student, to$20,000 from one of our teachers, to BethlehemAcademy’s first$1,000,000 donation from a past graduate and businessman. Wehave also received many pledges in between. At this time it iswith a grateful heart that I am pleased to announce that to datewe have received 65 commitment letters approaching threemillion dollars in pledges! There are times in each of our lives when we are given theopportunity to be a part of something much bigger thanourselves, something that will live on long after we have left thisearth. THIS IS OUR TIME!Today, I invite you to join with me and with BethlehemAcademy supporters around the United States in giving

prayerful consideration to the way in which each of us can helpto make this plan, this dream a reality. Together we will continueto provide future generations of BA families with the faith-basededucational experience that has blessed so many of our families. In this way our mission will continue to be spread throughout theworld by future generations of BAgraduates. Let us all EmbraceThe Miracle that is BethlehemAcademy!Sincerely yours in Christ,Sherri Langfeldt, President/Principal
