One of the first things I noticed was the title cards, I specifically really liked the ‘from the makers of paranormal activity and saw’ title card and I would definitely like to incorporate that into my own work. I then noticed the setting, a very normal suburban house. I definitely want to include a similar setting for my trailer as I think it definitely makes the trailer creepier as eerie as its set in such a normal environment and could happen to anyone. I loved the way the showed the house by a panning shot and I would definitely want to include a similar shot. The trailer then introduced the audience to the main characters, a very normal couple/family. This again makes the film creepy by having such a normal family as the main characters; it makes the audience feel more vulnerable, due to the normality of it. This is definitely another element I want to include into my own trailer as I think it definitely helps make the film as scary as possible.

The beginning of the trailer is edited together quite slowly, then towards the end gets faster and faster with shots cut togethr faster. This is a technique used to build suspense, and is another element I definitely want to include in my own work. The way it works definitely builds suspense and intices the audience to watch the film to fill in the blanks, and also to keep the audience on the edge of their seats by showing how scary this horor film will be.

The second trailer I watched to get insparation was the trailer for The Conjuring , another one of my personal favourite horror films. This trailer included title cards too, however with a bit of difference. The first title card we see for this trailer says ‘Based on the true story of the Warrens’ this will make the audience even more scared due to the fact the events may have actually happened. Again this is another technique used to make the audience feel vunerable, because its actually happened it could happen to them. Its definitely something I want to include in my trailer.
The setting for this horror film is again based in a normal home just like insidious, I definitely think this helps make the trailer even scarier. However the shots used of the house are much darker and eerier straight from the beginning. I do like the effect it has; the low key lighting makes the whole frame scarier.
This film follows the same codes and conventions as the film Insidious and uses the same theme for the characters, a normal regular family. This definitely makes the film more realistic and hits home more for the audience. Again I definitely want to include this in my own trailer.
This film trailer is definitely different due to the way it is edited. Usually the trailer gets faster and faster towards the end, however with this trailer its more slow towards the very end then suddenly fast. I really like the effect it had, it makes you feel like more relaxing and then shocks you by the sudden quick editing. I definitely want to include this into my own work.
