The Relationship the Son has with the Father:In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. Philippians 2:5-7

Page 11: Train Yourself to be Godly

The Relationship the Son has with the Father:

“Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. ...Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father.” John 5

The Relationship the Son has with the Father:

I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one —I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. John 17:22-23

UNITY (like the Father and Son have)

is the goal of Submission.

The Obedience of the Son

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered. Hebrews 5:7-8

Submission

“The freedom from having my own way.”

Is this just talking about the husband and wife relationship? No! Ephesians 5:21 “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

Submission is laying aside my own way, my self-will and stubbornness,

in order to acknowledge my God-given authority and bring unity in the situation.

Page 24: Train Yourself to be Godly

Submission

There are six things which the LORD hates, yes, seven which are detestable to Him: 1. haughty eyes2. a lying tongue3. hands that shed innocent blood4. a heart that devises wicked plans5. feet that run rapidly to evil6. a false witness who utters lies 7. one who spreads strife among brothers

Page 25: Train Yourself to be Godly

Submission

make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Philippians 2:2

Submission

Submission is uniquely applied in the husband-wife relationship!

Marriage is the process of becoming one. The problem starts in trying to figure out

which one!

Marriages are made in heaven. But then again, so are thunder and lightening.

Assignment: Do you practice Submission?

• I am willing to learn what true submission is. (i.e. allow God to deal with the trigger point)
