Introduction to the VDA Recommendation
The VDA 4984 is one of the global EDI messages in the automotive supply chain that has been developed at the VDA for several years with the participation of many OEMs and suppliers. The global EDI messages will gradually replace the VDA messages used to date in order to take better account of the requirements of the globalised economy and to make processes more transparent and flexible. The VDA recommendation for the data transmission of delivery schedules replaces the VDA recommendations 4905 and 4915 as well as various variants - in the case of VW even eight "old" VDA messages -, thus reducing complexity and offering potential savings to all parties involved. The DELFOR message can be used to transmit scheduling agreements and call-offs as well as daily call-offs via EDI with EDIFACT. For the introduction of the new VDA 4984 Global DELFOR GEFEG offers a one-day training. It is aimed at EDI departments that have to use VDA 4984, for example, as part of the rollout of Volkswagen by the end of 2016, and at planners and implementers who are new to the planning of this message or who are interested in the differences to the previously used message (e.g. VDA 4905).
