INDUCTION TRAINING
• Aim : used for training new employees , they will not know where things are or who people are or what is expected from them.
• Lasts: several days.
Remember ‘induction’ sounds
like ‘introduction’ , introduces
new employees.
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
• This is where a person is trained by watching a more experienced worker doing the job.
• Aim : Semi-skilled or unskilled workers.
• The employee does not need to be sent away , saves travelling costs.
• However , the trainer will waste time and will reduce her/his productivity.
OFF-THE-JOB TRAINING
• College or specialist training center.
• More varied and complex tasks.
• Involve lectures, role play , case studies or computer stimulations.
• If carried in the evening ; it will be cheaper as the employees will still carry out their normal duties during the day.
• Variety of skills and employees will become multi-tasked.
